They wouldn't have to go 3-12 against the West then at least.

Enjoy the Birmingham Bowl!!
Is it even on TV???
But yes, I had the same sad thought when it was 52-20 - I was hoping for another score - just not by oregon

Other than his derp fumble scoop-n-score, he played quite well. Mariota's offense requires throwing the ball about 20 feet 90% of the time, Jameis was throwing accurate lasers in traffic.
Winston's teammates on offense didn't help him out much. Dropped passes, fumbles, and an inability to play the read option on defense cost FSU the game, not Winston's play.
Dont confuse sav with actual football knowledge.

Mike Golic and Jesse Palmer came up with one of the fucking stupidest explanations for the SEC West's performance this morning: it's because so many of their players are NFL-ready. You see, the SEC is loaded with players who are going to be drafted and they were preoccupied with preparing for that rather than focused on their bowl games.
I guess in prior seasons the SEC lacked players with NFL ambitions and that's why they were able to do well.
Anything to apologize for the SEC and avoid acknowledging that there are decent teams elsewhere in the country.

Well, you can't forget he was an offensive lineman so his primary takeaway from the OU-FSU game is "dem boyz in green hold better than them boyz in white".

Sometimes a conference just has a 'bad year' in bowls, and for the SEC that means going 6-6 or 7-5. Other conferences like the Big 10 can a celebrate having a good year going 5-5.

....6 (including both Miss schools AND Arky) of top 11 in Sagarin from $EC, 8 $EC teams ahead of F$U. This is the type statistical modeling that brings consensus to AGW, empirical data be damned.

Not bad when the B1G was predicted to go 0-10. How did other conferences do ATS?

Over the past 5 years (2010-2014) the SEC is 9-10 in the "Big 6 Bowls", BCS Championships, and the Playoffs.
Big 6 being Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Cotton, and Peach.
Maybe that's actually the best of all the conferences. I didn't check. But it hardly seems dominating.

Big 12: 4-7
Big Ten:5-5
ACC: 6-6
Pac12: 6-4
Using those bowls means that it's usually 4 SEC teams every year and not the best 4 since Citrus/CapOne was next after BCS tie in and Peach and Cotton both were lower SEC ties. You're comparing two or three of the top 4 teams in the other conferences compared to 4 of the top 5 SEC teams and the records are still similar.

I believe the Peach and Capital One used to alternate as to which one picked ahead of the other but I could be wrong. Or at least they did recently. Or maybe the Cotton was thrown in the mix some years too. I know it wasn't automatically the best non-BCS SEC team that would go to Orlando. The Capital One preferred to have an SEC East team and the Cotton preferred to have an SEC West one.

Still though, 3 of the last 5 (including this one) National Championships. Meyer has built an SEC type program at OSU. Teams are catching up.

UT beats a Big team in a bowl game? Maybe things are getting back to normal.

The Gator/TaxSlayer Bowl. Remember when the Gator was pretty high up the bowl food chain?
