AJ had a higher completion rate facing SEC teams than Garopollo had facing the FCS opponents of Eastern Illinois. True, AJ's scouting report on arm strength is rated average by most and he is destined to be a back-up (in my opinion) but I would still take him before Garopollo.

From NFL.com on AJ:
STRENGTHS Well-versed operating a pro-style offense and makes NFL-style progression reads. Is comfortable working from under center and in the gun. Mobile enough to sidestep the first wave. Good field vision, timing and anticipation. Very good short-to-intermediate accuracy (evidenced by a 66.9 percent career completion rate). Throws with accuracy on the move -- good wrist snap. Delivers the ball under duress. Has enough arm strength to fit the ball into spots. Consistent throwing mechanics -- has a smooth stroke. Good caretaker and decision-maker. Mature leader. Smart and articulate. Highly competitive team leader -- holds teammates accountable. Very well-prepared. Directed back-to-back national championship offenses.
WEAKNESSES Surrounded by an NFL-caliber supporting cast with a very good offensive line that provides a lot of time to dissect the field. Does not have a big-time, vertical arm. Average athlete. Makes occasional bone-headed decisions. Heaves the deep ball and forces receivers to make adjustments. Does not drive the deep out.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 2

BOTTOM LINE An efficient game-managing quarterback who has shown he can carry an offense at times throughout his career, but more often is dependent on a terrific supporting cast. Grades out most highly for his intangibles and decision-making, knowing when and where to go with the ball, and could earn an NFL starting job.

AJ will end up a free agent signing. He'll be punished for the talent around him.

Clowney was hurt a large part of last year and did not fully practice at all times. I think he took some plays off when the plays ran away from him, but he has the speed to run down guys. He just decided not to do it. I chalked it up to him not being 100%, but largely due to the fact that he knew he was a #1 pick and didn't need to do any more damage to himself for free.

I think AJ goes in the 4th or better. Someone needs a clipboard carrier.

He does like his hand in the dirt, so maybe he can stay at end, but I see Clowney as more of an OLB type.

I'm not sure where is an appropriate place to post this but...

We found out yesterday at the Michigan forum that Clashmore Mike has lost his battle with cancer. He hasn't posted much around here the past few years, but Mike was a real good guy and a longtime poster going back to the CNN days. RIP

THE HELL WITH MICHIGAN
I'm in D.C. right now. Rosslyn area. Spending my time running up and down the street and to the top of this building.....(not politically connected with anything or near anything political)......also checking in here every few minutes. Cannot get news from any site right now.....phones down....I do have ABC radio. Would greatly appreciate you guys continuing to post news updates as they are available. I can see smoke from the Pentagon, nothing from the State department. Will keep you updated if I should see anything other than racing police cars and speeding F-16's.

puter.....these people will pay, even if it means that I get my 30 year old ass back into shape for another Marine Corps enlistment. BTW, your thread just became a quite a real news source for me.

way to young. prayers for his family

I can't imagine that guy getting run off by anybody, I recall him as being mostly reasonable and relatively mild-mannered...

I am pro gay rights. Gay Marriage. Go for it. Gay football player? Whatever. That said, I hated the kissing and cake-smearing. He did himself a disservice. He was more a gay who also plays football, than a football player who is also gay. Yesterday should have been about the latter.
