Like hell he didn't. Revenue increased after the tax cuts were put in place. Each year until 2008 housing bust. I've shown the data from the IRS many times. Ftr record w added about 4 trillion in 8 years versus oprama 5 trillion in 3 years. Also the last year before the housing bubble (2007) the deficit for the entire fiscal year was 160 billion. For the entire year. It trended down every year after the cuts until housing bubble burst.bluetick wrote:"Let's make no mistake about it right now: increasing THIS debt ceiling? This is George W. Bush and the Republican Party's debt.
Five years from now? It's Barack Obama's. But right now, this is what happens when you spend the type of money you spent from 2001 to 2009... This is what we have been led to in 2011. This is George W. Bush's debt. You can't just put this on Barack Obama."
-Joe Scarborough, 7/12/2011, Conservative Analyst and former Repubican Congressman (FL)
Borrow, spend, and cut revenue....sounds as futile as your "buy high/sell low" strategies.
Look at your own graph and you'll see dubya doubled the debt from $5 trillion to $10 tril. Yet you never made a peep about that...funny how that works.
Kind of like how the Internet boom and millions of high paying jobs led to large unpredicted surges in revenue that ended up being a surplus until both sides of congress found ways to blow it. And of corse dot com bust and 911 led to huge job losses and hence less revenue to govt. we don't have a revenue problem. We don't need more taxes. We need more tax payers.

Ah puter - you bitch and moan when some of your posts go unresponded - at least I gave it a mention when nobody else did.puterbac wrote:Tick used to make some cogent points, but now it's just sad. Never comments on the content of an article or column anymore. Just tries to make snide comments about either the author, the site published on, or both in a sorry attempt to discredit. Could you be any more un-serious? It's become a reflex kind of like the left calling anybody who ask oprama or holder a question a racist. Why do they do that? Cause they got nothing else.bluetick wrote:heh @ Washington Examiner

Naturally you can use any source you like - hell, this thread has your name on it. And you're no racist, nor are you a birther baffoon. You're a smart, industrious family man and a patriotic American - as are 90% of the opinionaters around here.

They did nothing about that snowball either. They absolutely, totally, completely and utterly failed to use their complete control of the US government to regulate Fannie and Freddie, and generally ensure a sane banking system. This recession is their fault....and of course, slick willie did absolutly nothing about the building snowball that was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Bush's handling of the war in Iraq was also a breathtaking essay in incompetence. He was wrong about their WMD. His administration never spent five minutes thinking about what they would do with Iraq after we conquered it. He spent the next year pretending everything was just peachy keen when the whole country descended into chaos.
Throw in his deficits (the second worst in US history), the federal response to Katrina, the Dubai ports deal, Harriet Myers scotus nomination, and you have a completely failed presidency.
With his deficits and war on the Catholic Church, Obama might still be worse. We'll see in his second term.
I hope your next wife/partner pays you some attention.

Well, they've at least got that Bluetick approved status going for them....
Coming off its least-watched month in primetime in 20 years in May, CNN has taken another big ratings blow: The cable news network has registered to its lowest-rated quarter in primetime since 1991. For this year’s second quarter, CNN hit a low among total viewers and the key adults 25-54 demographic, with all primetime programs posting steep declines.

I can still remember the waterfall of posts by yourself, 'tick, DSL, The Talent, Hedge, et al, absolutely indignant and outraged by such examples of Bush's incompetence, real and imagined. I remember how concerned you all were with any sign of bad economic news -- like when unemployment topped 6%!
Now we have Obama wrecking the economy and creating a mess that it will take decades to fix. And you're all okay with it.
Oh, to go back to the days when Bush was trying to walk through locked doors and such.

Waterfall of comments by me? You must be mistaking me for somebody else. I guarantee I've posted a tiny fraction of the overall posts in here, both at WC and since we've been here. I do like to fillip thou's jowls on occasion, however...

I defer to Hack's razor-sharp memory. And I am guilty of getting indignant with Bush at times - guilty as sin.
But I'm not okay with the state of the economy. Hard choices have to be made with the number one goal of paying down our 14 trillion in debt. I have serious doubts that in this current political climate oprama can broker anything with Congress towards that goal. It may take a change at the top this November to get it done.

Agree with hedge, wasn't much involved with the place back then besides the sports threads. I'll give you the fact that I would laugh at Bush once in awhile. Everybody did. I mostly posted back then to anger you. I still do today because it's still working.Hacksaw wrote:I can still remember the waterfall of posts by yourself, 'tick, DSL, The Talent, Hedge, et al, absolutely indignant and outraged by such examples of Bush's incompetence, real and imagined. This thread should be busy tomorrow with the SCOTUS decision on Obamacare and the Holder contempt vote.

Well, I suppose I have to give credit to 'tick for at least being somewhat honest about his relentless, irrational hatred of George W. Bush.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
My hatred of Bush was neither relentless nor irrational. He's just a guy who has ridden daddy's coattails and fambly reputation his whole life. Nothing wrong with that, but that doesn't generally make for a great statesman, and it certainly didn't in Bush's case. He seems like an OK guy, though. Probably a hoot to hang out with at a ballgame or some such. Had it not been for 9/11, which he was totally ill-equipped to handle, his would've most likely been a generally nondescript presidency, which is the way I like it. HL Mencken's appreciation of Calvin Coolidge comes to mind...

H L Mencken on Calvin Coolidge
H. L. Mencken, American Mercury, April 1933.
In what manner he would have performed himself if the holy angels had shoved the Depression forward a couple of years - this we can only guess, and one man's hazard is as good as another's. My own is that he would have responded to bad times precisely as he responded to good ones - that is, by pulling down the blinds, stretching his legs upon his desk, and snoozing away the lazy afternoons.... He slept more than any other President, whether by day or by night. Nero fiddled, but Coolidge only snored.... Counting out Harding as a cipher only, Dr. Coolidge was preceded by one World Saver and followed by two more. What enlightened American, having to choose between any of them and another Coolidge, would hesitate for an instant? There were no thrills while he reigned, but neither were there any headaches. He had no ideas, and he was not a nuisance.
