Horrible call. I so wanted Sid Bream to pull a Twinkie runner off 1B in game 3.

It was 90 percent Ron Gant's fault for not spending enough time in the weight room, otherwise Hrbek wouldn't have been able to knock him off of the base.

Heh. Even though you are kidding, you are partly right. Gant could have slid back to first to have avoided the wrestling move. He did the rest of the series, but as early as he was to the bag in that game, a standing return to 1B is routine.

With the Pirates-Braves missed call, I blame the catcher because even as a HS catcher, I was taught early not to make broom sweep tags at the plate unless there was no other way to make the tag. The ball was early and the Pirate catcher made the broom sweep and still barely nicked the leg/uniform - when the catcher could have taken the ball-in-glove and punched him out with it.

Here's what Ump Meals said in his "apology":
"After coming into the locker room, I reviewed the incident through our videos that we have in here and after seeing a few of them, on one particular replay, I was able to see that Lugo's pant leg moved ever so slightly when the swipe tag was attempted by McKenry," Meals said.
What is missed in this whole thing is how bad an ump Meals is. Earlier in the game, two different Braves on two different occaisions were tossed for arguing "strikes" thrown at the shoelaces. He's horrible.

Not sure if he committed sepiku (sp?) per se, but it was at his own hand.

I don't think that would be classified as suicide. Unless he ate bad fugu that he knew was bad fugu.

If he knew it was bad and ate it anyway, well....

The Texans make major upgrades to its secondary in the last 36 hours and HoustonChronicle.com has an almost full page of fucking Hunter Pence hugging his fellow loser teammates on its front page. Gag.

The Astros, as it stands, are only better than the Cincy Bengals, as an organization, because at least the Astros were just sold. If Crane doesn't fire Wade at the end of the year, then the two are neck and neck, IMO.

Talk to me in 20 years and then maybe we can compare.

Hunter Pence was worthless to this franchise as a current player. Ditto Wandy, ditto Bourn, etc etc. Trade them all. It would be one thing if any of those guys was actually young or a legit star but none of them are.

your logic is flawed. if a player wears an Astro uniform, then he cannot be a "legit star"
