Place the ball on the 20 which would essentially make it a 37 yd extra point.... that'll put a little excitement into the PAT.... or make the PAT a drop kick only.

"or make the PAT a drop kick only"

Like they used to do in your leather helmet days.

They were floating some ideas on Mike and Mike this morning. Make the extra point a 45 yard field goal. Make the TD count 7, then force them to run another play from the 2 yard line, if you score you get 8 points, if you don't you only get 6. Etc...

Or make the extra point attempt a play from the 5 yard line every time. Score you get the extra point, don't, you don't. I kinda like that one, gives it some meaning and some legit excitement. They said out of over 1200 PAT's kicked this season, only 5 missed. I mean really, what's the point? It's virtually automatic, serves no purpose. Make it mean something and make it interesting instead of automatic...

I like the 45 yard field goal idea - although for most kickers that is still almost automatic. Seems like the field goal accuracy has increased by about 10 yards in the last 6 - 8 years.

Yeah, but a 45 yd fg isn't automatic. Even if it was only 75 or 80%, that still is better than 99.6%. Plus it gives better opportunity for the kicker to be the dog...

make a fg worth 2 from the 30 and in (ball placement, not los)

worth 3 from the 50 to the 30

worth 4 from past the 50

The smartest QB in the league is Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Titans.

shrink the width goalpost by about 10 feet or more

drop the perecntage of not only extrapoints but fg kicks. make you think twice about lauching some of these 55 yard kicks

make it as wide as arena football

just leave it the way it fucking is, for crying out loud. why do they need to change something that has worked perfectly for 70 years? the extra point means a lot when it comes to the NFL fixing spreads. axe anybody who's ever lost a bet on the PAT! axe him!

weren't the goal posts on the goal line 70 years ago?

70 yrs? More like 40 yrs.

Amen. The best thing they have done was to add the 2 point conversion in the NFL. They could allow the defense to run a missed field goal back instead of calling it a dead ball.

I've fired people that went to school in Boston. That doesn't make him the smartest...and fuck a Wonderlic. Eli missed like one or two questions on the shit.

I like the idea of placing the LOS for a FG on the 28 yard line. That's a good distance. Some games (in the Northeast and Chicago) it won't be worth the risk and you just go for two.

Install land mines in various hidden places on the field...that would really juice up the sport.

Really I mean does football need juiced up? For fuck sake...jazz up baseball...football is fine.

Remember George Carlin's comparison of football and baseball...

As long as some of those landmines are on the sidelines you run down as well blowing another call Im all for that plan. Refs need to start being accountable too.
