Apparently, he read the book, and immediately tried to obtain the film rights to it, but was beaten to the punch by JJ Abrams. Once the production team heard of Franco's interest in the project, they contacted him right away about the lead role.

anyone watch Tread on Netflix?
I started out trying to have a sympathetic ear to the guy but once he felt slighted there was no reasoning with him. Guy just wasn't going to budge on what he thought was right, and if you are like that, you shouldn't be living in a small town trying to run a business.

saw a movie I thought was worth watching last night called Spotlight
Its about the Boston Globe's investigation into the Arch Diocese child molestation.
I don't think many, if any, newspaper have a spotlight group today because investigative reporting, and being sued for it afterwards is so expensive.

not everyone's cup of tea but I watched a documentary on Hank Paulson last night on Netflix about the 2008 meltdown. He was pretty candid and while I'm sure it was a friendly documentary I've changed my opinion on him. I think history will show, even if don't agree with bailouts as the solution, it worked and saved our economy. It saved the worlds economy. This man in a period of maybe 5 months kept the worlds economy from crashing at least twice. Also I thought he was being punitive to Lehman Brothers but he explains it and it came down to saving Merrill Lynch of Lehman Brothers, and the CEO of Lehman Brothers was warned at least 3 months before their collapse that he had to find a buyer or liquidate.
So it was pretty educational. I still think Paulson being a Goldman Sachs guy had a skewed world view but I also believed he mostly did what he thought was right, and had the best interest of the country in mind. The documentary shows alot of what people didn't understand during the whole wall street/main street occupy wall street stuff - and what he did saved main street. There were still some bad players like banks hoarding TARP money and CEOs getting huge bonuses, but his argument is that the last thing you want is the government telling banks who to loan to which partly created the bubble with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac being so bloated buying bad mortgages.

Paulson has come across very well in the documentaries / retrospectives that have come out over the past few years.
Heck, he comes across as the type of guy that should be President.

He battled it since 2016. Through all those movies. Strong dude. Good dude. Proud alum of my school. He is a testament to perseverance and focusing on the work. Rest in peace.
