Lotta bitching on Catspause about the season. Well at least I won't have trouble getting tickets in Dec. I can't believe we're not playing NC.

I'm not sure what happened there, but I'm pretty sure they're going to get back on track next year. It's too good a rivalry to let die...

Cal and Roy agreed to a 1-year hiatus. From the UK perspective, Cal wanted to make sure that the UofL and UNC games were staggered so that one was home, one was away each season, rather than both at home/both on the road. So in 2013, UK gets UofL at home, UNC on the road and it resumes from there.

I don't like the new SEC hoops format. would rather see 19 games w/home and home versus each divisional team.

I can buy that. I never thought that either Roy or Cal wanted to drop the series. I've got no feel for how this year's game would've played out, not feeling like this frosh class is up to par with recent UK vintages, but I've really got no idea of what Carolina is going to look like this year...

"At last, on Monday the 16th of May, when I was sitting in Mr. Davies's back-parlour, after having drunk tea with him and Mrs. Davies, Johnson unexpectedly came into the shop; and Mr. Davies having perceived him through the glass-door in the room in which we were sitting, advancing towards us, announced his aweful approach to me, somewhat in the manner of an actor in the part of Horatio, when he addresses Hamlet on the appearance of his father's ghost, 'Look, my Lord, it comes.' "This reminds me of the ludicrous account which he gave Mr. Langton, of the despicable state of a young Gentleman of good family. 'Sir, when I heard of him last, he was running about town shooting cats.' And then in a sort of kindly reverie, he bethought himself of his own favourite cat, and said, 'But Hodge shan't be shot; no, no, Hodge shall not be shot.' "

Kobe has lost his fucking mind thinking that this team would beat the 92 team.
Yes, Bird and Magic were shells of their former selves (more so Bird than Magic), but you had Jordan (aside from being the GOAT, he was one of the all-time best defenders) and Pippen who would lock down wing players. Stockton, Drexler and Mullins came off of the bench to add more scoring, and even though the 2012 team would provide "match up problems" at the 4 with 'Bron & Carmello, the 2012 team would get abused by the 92 team. Barkeye, Malone, Robinson and Ewing would score at will in the post.
Yes, Durant would create some match-up issues as well, but Barkley or Malone would decapitate Durant if he were to try to drive the lane.

92DT would beat the 12DT bad. With or without Blake. Kobe is a moron.

If the best players were healthy and playing, it would be a close game with 92 still coming out on top.

I don't think it would be that close. 15-20 points.

Yeah, I think Kobe was just being provocative...getting the people going (it seems to have worked, if that was his goal).
Pippen would play Durant and the games would be marginally close, at best. The Dream Team would win 8 out of 10 times, easily, IMO. Jordan would demand to D up Lebron for a few plays and only play defense with trash talk (to great effect). The 2012 US Men's Basketball Team (I can not call them DT) would give them good runs, but unless Durant, Harden and Melo got hot from the outside, there would be no wins for 2012.
I think Bird shot like 70% from 3 in the Olympics. It was an insane team. Only Laettner is not a Hall of Famer (and he should not have been on the team; Shaq should have been there...it was just Duke fellatio going on). No way Kobe could have been serious. No way. Kobe was 13 then, he thought all of those dudes were old back then, so his frame of reference is fucked up. Jordan, Pippen, Barkley, Ewing, Robinson, Drexler and Malone were all in their primes. Jesus, they would have destroyed EVERYBODY the more I think about it.
