I’ve spent many nights in the ER the past few decades with my parents (and a couple times for myself). When a grown man came in screaming in pain with tears streaming down his face, it was almost always kidney stones. Wishing you relief soon, brother.
nurse said when I came in they knew immediately I had what they called "Kidney Stone Face"

I am at work today on hydrocodone or something that sounds like that

The worst is when you go to the ER in the middle of the night, and the stones pick that particular 30-60 minutes to stop presenting…so the hospital staff, obviously thinking that I look like some junkie looking for a 3am fix, lets me sit there for a bit without doing anything for me. Mind you, this is a nice hospital in my affluent neighborhood, not some Memphis hospital who sees this multiple times nightly.

Predictably, 20 minutes later I’m on my knees next to the bed, stretched across it like I’m trying to rip the mattress in half with that same kidney stone face, and they’re all over themselves to hook me up.

The strongest pain killer they gave my Mom was Dilaudid (hydromorphone). One of the nurses got to know my Fambly due to our frequent ER visits for her chronic condition. Straight outta da Bronx, big Yankees fan. Matt would tell my Mom, “A’ight dahlin’, time for some relief. Dilaudid iz da shit.”

oh man, they put me room six at 4:10 am. I was the *only* person in the ER. By 4:30 I was yelling out into the hallway " Can someone do something about this pain!?"

at the time I didn't know it was kidney stones but they were about 99% confident just from my description.

at the moment I didn't care, my attitude was shoot me up with something and then we can talk about what it is

As for myself, I’ve had a bad back since I was 20 (idiotic weightlifting injury). A couple times a year, I’ll get spasms or sciatica will act up. But this time, it was crazy. I was sitting on the fireplace, playing with my baby niece as she crawled around. I moved the wrong way and I was screaming in pain. It felt like I was being stabbed in my lower back. My Dad and brother practically carried me to the car. They gave me a shot of Demerol and I remember feeling like I was floating above the bed. The pain wasn’t completely gone, but I didn’t give a k*rzyt…

Concur. Any legit narcotic will do the trick in a pinch. I ain't talking about Tramadol and assorted bullshit, but morphine, demerol, oxycontin, dilaudid, fentanyl, etc., will all cure what ails ye. But dilaudid does have that extra something that really soothes the burn, whatever the source of the burn is...

Why is it, why, why is it that Disneyland costs $161 a day and only the top 4% of US families can afford to bring their family (and young children there) to enjoy it? Oh, yeah, this is why....

Tattoos are bad for Disneyland business. Okay. I didn't realize that.

about 2 months I wanted to plan a weekend getaway. I'm at an age now where my priorities for a weekend getaway are different than they were 10 years ago.

10 years ago it would have been a 6 mile loop hike up a mountain, but now I asked for a small mountain town with a vibrant foodie scene, a big farmers market and maybe a festival.

AI recommended two towns , one in Virginia and other was Lewisburg, WV. Based on cost of VRBO's and the festival we chose Lewisburg.

I was only in this town for 48 hours but I loved it. Its a hidden gem - its a small town but big enough to have what you need - several locally owned restaurants, we literally had a tavern built in the 1800s connected to the alley of our rental, there were actually two farmers markets, they weren't huge but I was able to get some fresh produce before the first frost hit.

Anyways, if you want a quiet getaway in a town that has some character, you might want to check it out.

My plan, if everything comes together is to retire in West Virginia, and Lewisburg just replaced Beckley on the places I want to live.

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Bluegrass dreams fade while I’m stuck in Ohio
Wildcats hoops keep falling apart
Too old for the hikes, shrimp omelette wrecked my heart
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
All my Saturdays gather ’round football
Kentucky’s winning, while the Reds just stall
Bengals won’t save me, painted on the sky
From West Virginia I’ll drive the work myself, no shipping by and by
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
I hear the Cats in the morning hour, they call me
The radio reminds me of the losses far away
Driving down the road, I get a feeling
That I should’ve been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, down country roads
Take me home, down country roads
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

You won't have any cell service on the outskirts of a Lewisburg. You might not even want to buy a service plan.
