56 years ago.....Remember it like it was yesterday....Great times growing up in the late 50s and 60s. Feel sorry for these kids today.

Why? Because they aren't gonna die soon like you?

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about the kids today. I can assure you they're not worrying about you...

Saw this cartoon and thought of eCat and his boy. The caption was "Enough with the hard luck stories about spankings and cursive and appointment television, Dad"...

From the "personal life" section of Ernest Borgnine's wiki page:

"Borgnine's marriage to singer Ethel Merman in 1964 lasted only 42 days. Their time together was mostly spent hurling profane insults at each other, and both would later admit that the marriage was a colossal mistake (Merman's description of the marriage in her autobiography was a solitary blank page). Their divorce was finalized on May 25, 1965."

Tony Tubbs was telling a story last night at our meeting about how at 16 he used to be a sparring dummy for Ali. Now, Tony is punch drunk so it's hard to understand him sometimes and the years of drugs and alcohol have took its toll but he was saying that every time Ali knocked him down he would yell at him "get up son!" and to this day whenever he falls (use wise) he always hears that in his head. Amongst other things I'm sure. Thought it was cool.

Has anyone seen the two part HBO documentary on Ali? HBO also has another 90 minute Ali documentary based upon Ali's appearances on the Dick Cavett show.

Both are excellent.

eCat: any luck on a free streaming link?

I would love to watch the fight tonight, but you have to join ESPN+ then pay $80. I’m kind of one of those fringe fans when it comes to boxing. Miss the days when a fight like this would be on national broadcast tv

hey Sorry

I am just seeing this now so its probably too late

I pay for TPK - $8 a month, about 2400 channels, all sports packages, new release movies and PPV so I am getting it on the TPK app

If you guys are interested I can give you a link on how to sign up for it. You get every PPV event - also local channels from all over - like 200 local channels

but I will go check reddit to see if there are any free links

40 years ago last night, it was more than a hockey game.

I still believe Herb Brooks was more instrumental in turning this country around than any politician.

Yes, even more than Reagan.

So I guess Bin Laden did the same in 2001.

in the past few weeks I have reacquainted myself with an early white trash upbringing love - cheese whiz in a can - and I don't even like the good stuff, I like Dollar General house brand.

I've got my kids addicted to it as well. Ritz crackers (well, dollar general's version of Ritz crackers anyways) and cheese in a can.
That's good living

$2.50 a can

Got a chuckle out of the idea that there is a category of "the good stuff" when it comes to Cheese wiz. I used to steal cans from the convenience store and just eat (is the the proper term for consuming cheese wiz?) the whole can. But that was a long time ago. Like 6 months ago...

that hunting forum I frequent - those guys definitely made the distinction of the good stuff and were looking down at me for eating the dollar general store brand

too funny
