And a borderline meteoric rise for the Tide from their #7 spot in week 1...

Smoke and mirrors. This Bama team has a 1st year starter at QB, and massive holes in the secondary. No depth in the Oline, and shaky special teams play. Easily, Saban's best coaching job at Bama because this is a 9-3/8-4 team in disguise as a top-level team.

I defer to your judgment, but I will say that from what I've seen of MSU this year, they're a top tier team, and Bama absolutely shut them down for long portions of that game yesterday. You don't have to be a complete team to be a very good team, just dominant in one area and pretty good elsewhere, and Bama's D-line is dominant. Or at least they were yesterday. I also have to say I was reasonably impressed with your QB. He's not Russell Wilson, but he's not bad at all. Your O-line depth I don't pretend to know about, but I realize that's a concern if what you say is true (and I have no reason to doubt you). That is certainly something to worry about in any case, but esp. if you're trying to make a championship run. Again, I'm not arguing with your analysis, just saying that there are some bright spots in the midst of the troubling picture you paint...

In the end, if we beat Auburn, I won't care. We will have beaten all our main rivals in a year when I didn't think that was possible.

And I will get an obsequious yet convincing post from you...

Convincing may be hard.

This type of bet isn't really satisfying to the winner unless it causes some slight struggle for the loser. And anyway, I suspect this is one bet you'd be much happier to lose than win...

Bama will destroy Auburn. Something like 44-0. We both know that.

No. The game will be very similar to Miss State for Bama. We get a lead vs Malzahn but have a hard time keeping it.

If Saban wins it all this year with this team, does he surpass Bear as greatest Alabama coach of all time? Obviously Bear has the longevity, but it would be hard to argue with Saban's results, even in such a relatively short time frame...

Bryant won six national championships. Saban has three at Bama. And Bryant actually took over a program that was much worse off than what Saban took over.

That aside, I don't know. Two different eras. It's like comparing Aaron Rogers to Johnny Unitas. The games just aren't the same.

EFZ. Bryant didn't have scholly limits for much of his tenure.

Nobody did. That doesn't make it harder or easier in my opinion. Just different.

I only wish it was going to be close. Auburn fans will need a big tube of KY jelly to get through this Iron Bowl.

You can't judge what Auburn will do in the Iron Bowl because of how they played vs Georgia. The players, no doubt, didn't have their heads on correctly after a gut-wrenching loss against TAMU. I full expect Auburn to play like they did vs Ole Miss when they visit Tuscaloosa.

Auburn's been regressing since the LSU game. I sometimes wonder if we secretly brought Ted Roof back to run our defense.

Bama is like UGA but with a better passing game. The score will reflect that.
