just got a quote of $8200 to install an A/C unit on my house

that is fucking insane

I paid like 15 to replace mine because youre at the mercy of whatever giant company can show up with it the next day or else you cant survive in your house.

It also was like youre paying for them to not give a fuck about pulling permits and building codes, because my AC guy was like “yeah i could do it but Im not gonna be the low bid because I’ll pull a permit and end up having to renovate your whole attic to bring it up to code and it’ll also take weeks because the giant companies own all the inventory”

I dated a girl about 15 years ago that was proficient at HVAC. She was 10 years older than me, maybe a 6/10 in the face, but man did she have some big tits. Girl power indeed.

My dad and the MIF had to get new HVAC's around the same time a couple years ago, they were both around $7500 IIRC...

Same here…I think I paid around 7800 right before Covid…2018 or so…

8200 is fair these days. Adds value to the compound as well.
