Had to put down one of our dogs this morning. We've had her for about 14 years, rescue dog, old hound, I remember a few days after we got her we were walking them and one of our neighbors pulled up and asked about the new edition, we told him we had just gotten her and he said "that's nice of ya'll to adopt an older dog." I don't know how old she was when we got her but she was far from a puppy (very far), so I don't know how old she was but at least 16 and probably older than that. She was pretty much down to sleeping about 22 hours a day, but when she was awake, she was pretty spry. Last couple of days she went downhill quick, couldn't stand up, wouldn't eat anything, not even cheese, or drink water. Threw up a few times. Pretty pitiful, but she didn't seem to be in pain. This morning we discovered a pretty large tumor on her belly which wasn't there a week ago when we gave her a bath, so that pretty much decided it. She hadn't really contributed much in the way of daily interaction with the fambly in the past few years and certainly at her age we all knew it was just a matter of time, as it is for all of us. I hate to say this but she was probably my least favorite of all our dogs, but it was still pretty tough to do the deed. It was peaceful and quick, but still not a fun morning...

No, took her to the vet. I couldn't do that unless one of them was in complete distress and even then I don't know if I'd be able to. Maybe if I lived out in the country and owned of gun, neither of which is the case...

We've still got 4, including the two that sleep with us. When one of those goes, that's going to be tough...

I had a dog for 14 years. I loved that dog.

A dog is like losing a member of the family and now we have 3. The oldest is 10 years old now. He's in the sleep all day mode now, losing his teeth, constantly taking antibiotics for some ailment or another. The other two are young and spry, one isn't even a year old. She gets up on the bed and sleeps on my leg at night

Hate to hear it, everyone knows that day is coming, but its tough.

Did you know that dogs evovle eye muscles for the purpose of interacting with humans? Wolves don't have them. Its part of why we get so attached to them because we gave read their facial expressions

Jared just walked in here with some zero calorie Gatorade, I had never seen it before. I used to drink the low cal G2 (or whatever it called) Gatorade, but never seen the zero calorie. Anyway, I tried it, it wasn't bad but that Splenda flavor is a little bit cloying IMO. I cut some with water, about 50/50, but you could still taste that Splenda, and I was like why don't they just make it without any sweetener? They can still have their flavors, like Cool Ice or whatever, but just not sweetened. Or maybe it tastes like shit without the sweetener, but then I thought, why not just make colored water? That would be a good way to get kids to drink water if you had purple, green, blue, whatever, but just water that's brightly colored. Plain or carbonated. I drink the flavored carbonated water all the time, and of course all the flavored carbonated water is totally color-coded by the can or the label on the liter-sized plastic bottles. Why not just color the water??? But nobody does. I googled "colored water for sale", nothing came up. At the very least it would be an eye-catcher on the shelf...

I drink the zero calorie gatorade quite a bit but I've recently switched over to powerade

it tastes only marginally better but they have better flavor choices, plus they were on sale for .59 if you bought 10 of 'em

Yeah, that's not the same thing. That's the flavor you get when your tongue inadvertently skips across the taint for a little dabba browneye

I wonder if that is what Van Morrison was talking about when he wrote Brown Eyed Girl?
