forgot about Lawrence Philips?

forgot about how nebraska athletics was the equivalent of a junior college academically and only joined the modern world when forced to up its standards by u.texas (the huskers' overlords) in order to form the big twelve?

oh, now that nebraska can't trot out a chain gang on Saturdays, it's managed to win-- nada! bupkis! zippo! not even a conference title since the last century!

you Lincoln pussies done got r-u-n-o-f-t by the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners! LMAO!

but at least there's no academic fraud or other ncaa shenannigans in the Big 10... well, except for at Minnesota... and Ohio State... and Michigan State... and Michigan... and Indiana... and Wisconsin... and Iowa... and Illinois... and at least Penn State only has pederasty, which earns college credits in the big 10.... so at least nebraska has that going for it....
BITCHSLAP of epic proportions...the like of which hasn't been seen in the pen in lo these many years

i had forgotten about lawrence phillips, but in my defense, who hadn't?

Not sure what the fuck LP has to do with academic standards...but it is quite amusing. Of course you label the entire university on the action of one individual. Classic.

You do realize Nebraska leads the nation in Academic All-Americans right? In fact...it isn't even close.

University of Nebraska 294
Notre Dame 222
MIT 181
Penn State 173
Stanford 165
Augustana (Ill.) 136
Emory University 124
Bucknell University 122
Texas 121

Hmmm. No SEC schools? Quite puzzling.

Since storming the court has become old habit for unc, this no doubt will be the new trend for the heels to start in college roundball.........

so you could be good at any professional sport what would you choose?

to be a 97mph fastball pitcher?
a homerun hitter?
a sticky hands wide receiver?
a leg breaking defensive lineman?
a qb that can score on the 2 minute drill?
a PG that can shoot the 3?
a center than can block and dunk?
a goalie that can stop any puck?
an attack who can score goals at will?
some gay soccer, swim, gymnastics shit?

I think I'd have to go for QB even though I love basketball. The combination of glory, fame and $$$ makes its unbeatable to me.

you gotta go with either golf or tennis-- more $$$ for your time, you can play the sport longer, no residual injuries to hamper your post-sports life, can still get fame and endorsements (international, at that)...

homerun hitter, probably....chicks dig the long ball (and there's more longevity for baseballers)

but the pitcher thing would be cool too....setting bitches down mano a mano has a certain appeal

p.g. who can shoot the 3? been there, done that

If you're saying my velocity stays pretty constant, then I'm going pitcher. They can play into their 40s, with steady success. I'm going for longevity. One of the hardest things about being a professional athlete is when the career ends. Football shuts down the body too soon. A PG (outside of Nash and Stockton) sees his end come by the time he reaches 34. I don't know enough about the longevity of hockey players and soccer is gay (unless it's Copa or Olympics).

Yep, I'm sticking with the pitcher so I can leave the game with healthy old age prospects and play long enough to not feel old when I'm still incredibly young.

Golf wasn't listed, so I didn't factor it in. That would be up there too...but I've always been a team sport guy, so I would stick with my original choice, I think.

If you're going to be one of the best players in the world, soccer would be pretty hard to pass up. If your just going to be really, really good (Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan) then being an American soccer player probably sucks compared to the other American pro tracks.

Homerun hitter. If you can average 30-40 homers a year you will make 9 figures.

Plus, I could help my Buccos be respectable again...

I didn't really think about individual stuff like golf or Nascar or Tennis.

even with reasons listed above, I'd still go with QB. I wouldn't be thrilled to have replacement knee surgery at 55 but damn, what a ride to get there.

I'd go with pitcher second. I'm still amazed the human body can throw an object 90+ mph.

different topic, awhile back I mentioned that I signed my daughter up for golf. I think Cletus was right, at least for my area. Youth Girls golf is competitive in this area. The coach told the folks that her best players are shooting 86 and they will not be getting a golf scholarship to any major DI school.
