He's an Ohio boy. We're always willing to helping out a retread native son. The South gets most of its best coaches from the North these days, since the educational system in most Southern states sucks shit. Even a shitball school like Kent State can produce a fine coach.
As for probation, it's been rough. I'm embarrassed every day. This is our first serious probation so I don't really have experience dealing with it. It wears on a man.
Hell, you've been through what? 9 or 10 of these? Do they get easier after you've been through a couple?

So, were you happy to hire a retired SEC coach?

About as happy as you are with your failed NFL coach, I would presume

DSL,
Good to hear that you like having a SEC coach at the helm. Should make things better, more honest. Do you agree with Tressel being fired in shame? What about Gordan Gee and his gaffes. Are you a big fan? How long before he quips -again- about the football coach at Ohio State having the authority to fire the president? Talk about priorities. Also, did you catch Gee's racist slip the other day? Finally, what do you think about the inaction, through all of this, of your AD? Lack of instituitional control, no?

1) Tressel resigned a hero
2) Not a fan of Gordon Gee going back to his quip that the 1992 13-13 tie game with Michigan was the "greatest win in Ohio State history".
3) Gee will probably utter a similar quip shortly
4) Polish jokes are hilarious
5) Gene Smith's days are numbered and he's a schmuck.
6) No

Tressel a hero? A man who condoned and facilitated a regime of cheating?
Telling.

And then lied about it in writing to the NCAA Gestapo.

No wonder they considered Sherman a hero during the War of Northern Agression.

Sherman is an American hero, without a friggin doubt. As was any general charged with the cause of emancipation.

I just wish James Brooks could have read this excellent exchange.

Preston Brooks, you mean? The cowardly bastard who assaulted an unarmed man in the sacred halls of Congress simply for believing that slavery was an abomination?
God smote him down with a case of the croup. He roasts in Hell forevermore.

Heh. DSL knows less about the Civil War than he does college football. Didn't think that was possible.

I was reading more on Preston Brooks. Apparently another Northern Senator called him a coward for what he had done to Sumner. Brooks immediately demanded a duel but was caught off-guard when the Yankee eagerly accepted. Turns out the guy was a crack shot with a rifle. Brooks being the chicken-shit, no-account loser that he was, called off the duel because he feared for his safety should he travel. Wasn't about to enter into a fight on equal terms.
A guy by the name of Laurence Keitt helped prevent anyone coming to Sumner's aid. HE started a near-riot in Congress a couple of years later by attacking another Congressman after being called a "slave-driver". Happily, this miserable piece of shit was killed at Cold Harbor.
AA, GBJ, Prof, whomever, may now regale us on how slavery had nothing to do with the Civil War and it was a fight over indigo tariffs and the Nullification Crisis of 1832. Poor southern apologist bastards.
