I bought a few ounces of gold in the 2008 financial crisis along with silver. I think I bought gold at $890 an ounce IIRC, Silver was like $12
The problem with owning it you'll never sell it because people buying are using it as a hedge against the dollar imploding OR you always think it will go up like real estate
I envision a situation like storage wars 30 years from now when a guy is going thru my papers and yells out "HEY, WE GOT GOLD IN THIS SAFE!!!!!"
