If we are assigning causes, I would say being drunk would be the major cause of most falls.

Oh, I think that is a reasonable assumption. That is, whether you fall from a ball tossed or batted, you are probably impaired (that wasn't the case in this latest accident, though). However - impaired or not- I would think that more falls have occurred in the act of catching a batted ball - which gets back to the topic at hand: should or will MLB (or individual teams) forbid the tossing of balls into the stands to fans.

I dont think they need to. Just toss balls to people in box seats. Problem solved. I know if I was a player I would just stop tossing to people in an upper deck.

that dude wasn't in the upper deck, was he? they said it was only 14 ft. to the concrete. shit, I fell 12 feet off my roof last month, coming down headfirst at first when the ladder broke the gutter but somehow, ninja-like, I straightened up in mid-air and landed on my feet.

throw me the fucking ball and I catch it and live, fall or not

Nope that one is on Dusty. Cordero should have had the day off.

Surely to God someone other than Cordero can close these games. Dusty had better do something about it or something will be done about him. I can't understand whats wrong with this team.

sounds like more of a GM issue as opposed to a coach issue

This year, it is. Walt chose to take Renteria over Cabrarra. He chose to sign Lewis instead of going with a Gomes/Heisey platoon or if he wanted Lewis at least get rid of one of those two. And he waited way to long to bring up Cozart trying to give his decision at SS as long as he possibly could to save face.

Question for the stat geeks. What are the numbers for home run derby participants 2 months after the break? If I was a GM that would be a big No.

Is there any way to watch yesterdays Futures Game?

I would pay real money to be able to take some cuts at the HR derby.

In fact, you could have a national contest with the best of the non-players going up against the pros.

2 former University of Alabama baseball players will be in the all-star game. Can anyone name either (without googling)?
