Water, coffee, beer, whisky. That's it. I can go months and months without anything else - and then it's some sort of non-whisky liquor (rum, vodka, whatever) or a bottle of wine.

Rat, I was up in your neck of the woods today. Had breakfast at the European Cafe on Montgomery.

Cool little spot.

we're staying at home this Thanksgiving , and we're hosting Xmas dinner for the family this year so my wife and I are doing a trial run today on cooking food. Since we've always traveled, we've never cooked the main meals before so the past week we bought a 13 pound turkey, a roaster oven/buffet thing, two types of stuffing, oysters, green bean casserole mix, beer bread mix, candied yams, celery, onions, apples, carrots (to cook inside the turkey), pecan pie mix and cherry cheesecake.

Its going to be a fun day of just hanging out.

This afternoon we'll start decorating the house - something we've also never done before. I'm hanging wreaths in the windows, decorating the mantle, hanging stockings and I bought some outdoor decorations. We also have a gazebo the kids use for the bus stop in the corner of the yard and they decorated it yesterday with garlen and bows.

I'm trying my hardest to have a Norman Rockwell Xmas, not so much Martha Stewart

Ask me what mood I"m in around Jan 3rd when I have to take all this shit down and pack it back up

eCat--hint on cooking for Christmas---cook almost everything the day before--turkey (remove stuffing to a separate bowl after cooking), mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, veggies, pies (home made make in glass dishes to heat in micro--store bought heat up in oven) and the green bean casserole except for the onions on top--then Christmas day you only have to heat it all up, finish off the onions on the GB casserole, melt the marshmallows on the sweet potatoes--saves a lot of hassle and you and your wife can relax that most is done. I serve buffet style and have chafing dishes to keep food hot, and a 3 pot heated thing I put the veggies in--it's like 3 crock pots on one base that can all be heated individually I have a big group every Christmas and am way past the cooking all day thing.

I don't even have time to list out the dinner at my parents' house. I will say that my Mom roasted a turkey, fried a turkey, dry rubbed pork ribs and had king crab legs.

I won't even go through the sides and desserts.

Is your mom single?

Heh.

Nope...married to Pops for over 4 decades.

(and I forgot the baked ham...that she cooked, not married)

I'm just pissed that I'm staying at my mother in laws and can't pick at the food over the next few days with impunity. I get along with my MIL fine and all, but she cooks about as well as my wife, so it's like I'm at fat camp when I stay here. Also, my wife had me go to a Walmart tonight to buy an XBox 360 with Kinect (or some shit like that) for my 2 year old bc it was $100 off. I've never been to a Walmart before...and I never want to go again.
