Not the least bit surprising that UNC is fleecing their fans. One should always take advantage of "stupid" after all.

what is interesting is that UK and UNC have pretty much the same expense tied to college basketball with about 1million difference separating them in the 7-8 range. Duke on the other hand is at almost $14m in expenses.
So how in the hell is Duke spending $7m on expenses more than programs that give their college basketball program carte blanche to spend as they see fit?

UK is the ones doing the fleecing, your "expenses" (ahem) are over $1 million more than ours. Nobody said recruiting titles were cheap. Meanwhile, Carolina brings in over $5 million more in revenue than UK...

if you look at those numbers more closely, to have a serious basketball program, it appears you'll need to spend up to $8m as many major programs spend in the 5-8 range.
Jumping off the page are Marquette and Michigan St spending $13 and $9 million to run their programs but they are the only two besides Duke that break double digits.
I'm sure what actually appears as a cost varies widely but its interesting to me that several schools all fall within a basic range of each other when it comes to costs.

Since Dook is private they don't have to release details on how much they pay Krycholsky, correct?

look at Ohio St - 16m revenue, 4m expense - not bad and they have a decent program as well. Zona is 17 and 6 and Louisville - $25m and 8. Holy Cow

Where is Louisville getting $25.5 mil in revenue?

You can sort that list by whichever criterion you're interested in looking at...

Of course, you can always go the cheap route, like NCState. They're #12 in gross profit and #5 in profit margin due to being niggardly on expenses, i.e., not shelling out for a top coaching staff. Their motto is "profitability thru suckage"...

I can't imagine. Its not merchandise and its not tv/radio. Plus they have to give Pitino a $5m longevity bonus this year.

Yeah, I know. Every successful coach in the country is a potential slut.
One glance at Miller... he has no skin color, never goes out and plays in the sun... which tells me that he has those east-coast chromasomes that bellow "i'd rather be indoors in a humid, sunless city that smells like deisel exhaust and urine." And, as we all know, a dog always returns to his own vomit.

Likely also that some of it comes from Kentucky's number one cash crop:

Apparently A&M's AD had to choke and sputter in his soda yesterday when he found out that Buzz Williams somehow makes close to $4million per season at Marquette (according to some newspaper hack, anyway, I still dont see how that could possibly be true, but it does seem to be fact that we basically can't or won't pay him what he wants.

My guess is that the answer is prove to be OK enough that they just wont let him be the next Crean.

Not only does UL overpay Pitino, I think Pitino also got nice cushy salaries for his assistants as well. That whole staff is grossly overpaid.

Damn, I leave and Gary's the coach, come back and it's some midwestern fuck working in Texas. If he doesn't get the job done, I hold ATM accountable.
