Under-23 USA vs Mexico on telefutura right now. I dunno if Mexico has their best young players out there, but the USA is clearly better. Joe Gyau is impressive out on the left wing.

I haven't heard what USA team will play in the Olympics--will it be the under 20's? The USA Team is only talking about Worls Cup--are we even entering a team?

Olympics is a U-23 tournament. Our U-23's while we had our starters in last night just absolutely abused Mexico's U-23s, it looked like a USA-Mexico game from the early 90's where we were jsut completely outclassed, except the roles were reversed. Mexico only got some semblance of a threat going when several of the USA's best players were subbed after about 65 minutes.

CONCACAF qualifying starts in March and only 2 teams get in, and with the way qualifying is set up, USA and Mexico could meet in a semifinal where one team gets eliminated.

now that we've beaten Italy, what top powers have we not beaten?

I think i read that USA is 0-2 versus france. Doubt we've beaten netherlands either. Think we've managed at least one win against all the other traditional powers though...

ATM--now that USA soccer season is about to start and run downs to the Olympics and World cup, is it possible for you to start a thread for those who like to watch the cars race around--It was funny at first on the Soccer thread but it's the reason some soccer posters quit.

why not start a new thread for soccer-- maybe the St Louis Billikens (as iirc St L U is one of the alltie etop soccer schools).

start up a Clemson thread for the NASCAR- i think Clemson lets you earn a degree in pit crew-ology or somesuch.

then the North Carolina thread can go back to its original purpose-- discussion of mighty beast wars...
