That's cool. He was from Sparta, TN, if I remember correctly. I shook his hand at a couple of bluegrass festivals.

Tick, if you think the distribution of health care resources is cold and cruel now, wait until the federal government takes it over.

Wait until you get a letter from HHS that goes something like this:

"Mr. Bluetick, it has come to our attention that you reported to the People's Health Care Clinic #2074 nine months ago complaining of a growing lump in your neck. The Secretary of HHS congratulates you for patiently waiting the required 6 months before you received a biopsy of that lump, plus the usual 90 days after the biopsy before the lab results are available.

The following is your official notification of the results of your biopsy: Secretary of HHS regrets to inform you that you have lymphoma. For any questions you may have about this disease, please refer to our website. We are sorry that we could not inform you of your condition in person, but People's Health Care Clinic #2074 is short staffed due to budget constraints.

If we had known that you had lymphoma 9 months ago, we could have treated you with a better prognosis. However, lab results indicate that the lymphoma has begun to metastasize within the past 6 months. Please be advised that the Secretary of HHS is very sorry and feels your pain.

According to our records, we note that you are in you are 68 years old and suffer from diabetes. Because of these factors, the Secretary of HHS has categorized you as a E-OHC-PO. This acronym stands for "Elderly-Other Health Complications-Palliative Only." This means that the Secretary of HHS has determined that, because of your age and other health factors, you are ineligible for any expensive medical treatments to cure your cancer. Heroic measures like chemotherapy and surgery are reserved exclusively for people who are younger than you, not as statistically likely as you to develop other expensive medical conditions, and will serve the state for more years than you will if cured.

But because the Secretary of HHS cares about you as a person, you are are hereby pre-authorized for palliative care. You are allowed a monthly ration of pain killers to alleviate the some of the suffering caused by untreated lymphoma. The Palliative Care Only Officer (PCOO) at People's Health Care Clinic #2074 will assist you in filling out the required paperwork. Once the paperwork is completed, you placed on a waiting list for pain killing medicine. There is a program under which African American, Latino, female, Native American, Pacific Islander, or LGBT are qualified for an expedited issuance of pain killers. However, as a white straight male, you do not qualify.

Finally, statistics indicate that some E-OHC-PO cases like you are tempted to seek medical treatment outside those authorized by the state. Please be advised that the Secretary of HHS forbids such antisocial behavior. if you seek medical care through a private
arrangement with a provider or in a foreign country, your pain killing medications will be suspended. The Secretary of HHS may also choose to impose large fines and prison terms, as he/she deems appropriate.

Best wishes,

Chelsea Clinton

Amazing, you knew he was from Sparta! Now why would you know that or why would you even remember that. My teacher's name was Huland D Flatt. One of my favorites.

Heh to your satire.

A true bluegrass fan like me just knows stuff like that about one of our heroes. Same goes for Bill Monroe. Rosine KY.

It's really cool that a cousin of Lester taught you in school. I'm not surprised that he was a great teacher because Lester had a wonderful personality.

A couple of years ago Ole Miss had a QB with the last name of Flatt. I wondered at the time if he was any relation. If so, the young man should take advantage of his DNA and try his hand at bluegrass music. He wasn't a very good QB.

So, yes, I will celebrate his failure.
I don't think a big boot up the insurance carriers ass is the same as government takeover.
As I said, what's happening now is just an incremental step towards the government takeover that Obama has admitted is his ultimate goal. He is on record saying it can only be done incrementally.

There's no room for debate if we're not going to be honest about Obama's stated intentions.

The recent events she recounts - the Catholic contraception episode, the hot mike episode, the devastating presentation of Obamacare to SCOTUS - is all to the Obama administration's discredit, like she says. But I'm not sure they changed many minds about him. Those who already love Obama still do, and will eagerly vote for him again (for to do otherwise, as Thomas Sowell pointed out, would be racist). Those who hate Obama are already at a fever pitch. If they raise their anger one more notch their heads will explode.

The middle? They aren't even paying attention yet. If Obama's poll numbers are down with them right now, it's because gas prices are high, and they blame him. Nothing more. Next month, when gas prices go down, they'll like Obama again.

Umm... yes. There are other polls than Rasmussen out there, ya know:

Even Fox has Obama +2.

Furthermore, despite Obama's current unpopularity, he is beating his likely challenger in the polls nationally:

And then there's this. Quinipiac poll shows Obama beating Romney in three critical states:
The swing-state poll for Quinnipiac University shows Obama ahead of Romney by 7 percentage points in Florida, 6 points in Ohio and 3 points in Pennsylvania. In a comparable survey released in early December, Romney led Obama by 3 points in Florida and 1 in Ohio, while the Pennsylvania figures were the same -- the president up by 3.

Here comes another McCain, Dole and Bush Sr.

LMAO @ $5.6 trillion surplus. It never existed, dude. This is a case of repeating a lie often enough that you hope people will start to believe it.

But PLENTY of people on the right criticized Bush for his spending. I was one of the loudest and most consistent voices on PNN (though I was certainly not alone). One of my strongest complaints was the effect Bush's fiscal policies were going to have on the next dem POTUS. I predicted that he would be exponentially worse and add even more gratuitously to the national debt. And I was right, although I have to admit that Obama has eclipsed even my most pessimistic nightmare scenarios. I also predicted then that dems would point to Bush and use his spending as an excuse for their own irresponsible deficit spending. Once again, I was correct. Thanks for the assist.
