Is Versailles historical or just made up bullshit?

It's historical in the same sense that many grandma's were, at some point in history, pretty hot...

It's historical-ish. They get the main points of Louis XIV, but they def take some license. Like presenting the 'black baby' as fact, and they take license with some of the nobility.

I'm ok with some license, I'm ok, for example I love the Dumas Three Musketeers/Man in the Iron Mask books. Fine with changing of some details as long as its truly based on a lot of real events and historical personages. I'm not interested is something like Reign, in which some random lazy modern romance drama is just veiled in a veneer of a handful of historical names and places.

No, it's not like Reign, but it's not in the same ballpark as Dumas' work, either.

Think a bit less ginned up than HBO's "The Tudors" but def ballparkish to that.

Kinda like that baseball player whose name stands alone as a response to, well, anything (what's his name?)...

Watched the first 2 episodes of Versailles last night. It's pretty good, although I then spent an hour refreshing my knowledge of Louis XIV, XV and XVI

I watched a bit of it, I'm annoyed that Louis XIV is a mewling, whining pussy.

What about Cardinal Richileau (sp)?
