No question he was the man at Georgia. It's been 7 seasons though. I've watched his defenses in the NFL, and they are solid, well-coached teams, but the zone coverage and read and react defenses with two deep safeties is an antiquated style in today's football. Tampa 2 stuffs the West Coast, but the spread attacks being used by GB and NO are shredding two deep zone defenses. You have to pressure and cover with linebackers who can drop in coverage and blitz from inside and out.

That's not BVG's style. He'll do a heckuva job at Auburn, but I am not sure he can recapture his dominance using a Tampa 2 style system.

If I am spared the repetitive nightmare of watching opposing receivers effortlessly shred our secondary, I will be happy with this hire.

Ted Roof hired as DC at Penn State.

And that was a great hire by Auburn.

In two years they'll want Sandusky back.

Wrong, just wrong.

The Penn State secondary should immediately start practicing wind sprints chasing after the practice squad receivers all the way to the endzone. The rest of the defenders should start learning the art of not wrapping up.

It's down to Auburn and Notre Dame for the services of Arik Armistad, the #1 OT in the country.

He was supposed to decide Monday or Tuesday, but can't make up his mind.

I think Chizik should pay for him to visit South Bend right now, while the daytime high is in the 20's. Armistad is from California, and needs to consider whether he really wants to freeze his ass off the next four years. Maybe let him shovel a little snow for the first time in his life.

That might get his mind right.

It not like he can't take the winter quarter off.

If an OL is afraid of cold weather, do you really want him?

The NFL might not...but right now, Auburn would.

It's not fear; it's just good sense.

We just lost another verbal commitment on the offensive side: 4 star WR Ricardo Louis just flipped to FSU.

Rumors are that 5 star WR Stefon Diggs, who was an Auburn lean, will soon be a Gator.

Chizik had better get an OC soon, or the 2012 recruiting class will go down in history as the Bridesmaid Class at AU.

Yes, Prof still misses Coach Tubberville?

We are definitely headed towards a Tuberville-type recruiting class: ranked in the mid to high teens and way behind Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and maybe even Tennessee. The only thing missing Tubervillian feature will be half that mediocre class going to Hargrave and never being heard from again.

To his eternal credit, he did beat Bama six times in a row. But he was also lucky enough to catch Bama in the Probation phase of their eternal Cheat-Win-Probation-Lose cycle.
