A+ sardis

American Airlines just cancelled 276 flights today, 400 cancelled flights yesterday. Delta is at 50% staffing on their CSRs. Its not just Spirit Airlines. Its getting to be all of them.

You live in Cincinnati. You only fly Delta because that is one of their hubs. You love the price for the tickets out of a hub, that is what shows.

I love when you comment on things you have absolutely no clue about.

While Atlanta is Delta's largest hub, it uses several other hubs within the United States: Cincinnati, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul. Salt Lake City, Boston, Seattle-Tacoma, and both LaGuardia as well as John F. Kennedy airports, in New York City.

You said you only fly Delta. That makes sense. My friends that live in Salt Lake and Atlanta, they also only fly Delta. They only fly Delta because that is where they live, where Delta has a hub. You said I didn't have a clue and I was correcting you. I DO have a clue. That was my point.

Why do I love the price of tickets living in a hub?

At one time, Delta, American, United, Southwest, they could take advantage of a public that was not wise to all the options that were made available to them when purchasing tickets to fly. So out of their hubs, the price for a ticket from A-to-B may have been very expensive, even for the very efficient "non-stop." There was "brand loyalty."

Well, the public is much more sophisticated now about air travel. Domestic air travel in the USA is largely a "commodity" as opposed to a "brand." Rat you are far too smart to overpay for a plane ticket from Cincinnati to anywhere. The people know how to use Expedia and the internet and what-not to find the cheapest ticket. And for the longest time, that was NOT the majors flying out of their hubs (Delta use to gouge the fliers from their hubs.) Nowadays (because the airlines know that people aren't loyal anymore), it generally IS the cheapest ticket. Delta had to readjust their pricing. And the public knows (as you know), Delta flying direct to "anywhere" from Cincinnati (one of their hubs) is going to be cost effective for Delta where as American flying the same route means stopping in North Carolina or Texas or somewhere which means it will cost them more. So (of course) you fly Delta. You live in Cincinnati. That is where Delta (but not American or United) has a hub.

Hub-and-Spoke rat.

You're right. You don't live in Cincinnati. I have been using the Expedias since Expedia was born. And that was way before 2014 when CVG was the most expensive airport in America. Expedia was a late teen back then. I've done Dayton, Lexington, Columbus, Once Indy to save cash. But I ain't leaving Delta. They are simply the best out here. You get what you pay for. Go ahead. Fly Spirit. Make sure your pilot passes a breathalyzer. He can cheat those trust me. And make sure Eric the meth head does his pre-flight safety check.

Most of my flying though was done pre 9-11 back when it was fun. The ladies on the return flight from Denver always saved me a back row 3 seater, a blanket, pillow and 3 wine grenades. Life was good before them damn Arabs.

Anybody flying Spirit gets what they deserve. Frontier isn't far behind. We flew United to Costa Rica, no problems at all. I haven't ever really noticed much difference b/w the major airlines, we've flown Delta, United and American to Mexico, CR and various places in the Caribbean, they're all the same, at least as far as our trips have gone. We flew Frontier once b/c it was a cheaper ticket. Never again. And Spirit makes Frontier look like KLM...

That is pretty much what is happening.

Look these working class people, they WILL fly Spirit again. They will because that is what they can afford. They can't afford to fly other carriers. So at the moment, the working class that uses air travel, they suck a lemon. They are going to continue to suck that lemon until the discount carriers can get back to full staffing (if ever.)
