Bama has to be rated higher than LSU at this point.

Arkansas #6? C'mon. They haven't won an SEC game in the last 14 tries.

Arkansas' #6 ranking is because Bama is playing them next Saturday.

Your lack of football knowledge is troubling....you're an SEC guy and a southerner. I expect a little....more....from you. You're like an ACC guy who doesn't know basketball.
Anyway, no, not because we play them. It's because they killed Northern Illinois, and Texas Tech and they really should have beaten TAMU; and they had Auburn tied until a decent chunk into the 3rd quarter.
So, their losses are to the current #2 team and a game that they had every chance to win against the current #14. Arkansas is a team that is leading the SEC in rushing. Their starting o-line averages 335 lbs, and they have a stable of quality backs. So, yeah, that's why. Really should be obvious if you know football.
That said, I think Bama has a decent chance against them. We match up well. But overall, I believe they are every bit deserving of the ranking I have given.

This could be an ACC type of year for the SEC. Not in terms of the overall quality of the teams, the SEC is obviously better in that department, but in the fact that there seems to be much greater parity within the conference. Anybody (mostly) has a real shot of beating anybody. Might end up with a bunch of 3 loss teams. Kinda frustrating, b/c you feel like any of them would be favored over any one- or two-loss teams from any other conference (except maybe FSU, but the jury is still out on that at this point) and certainly over a one- or two-loss Notre Dame, but that won't matter when it comes time to pick the playoff teams...

In today's game, if you have a top flight qb you have a puncher's chance every time out. Conversely, if your signalcaller is mediocre then you're in for a long season.
The bottom 3 teams in the SEC have poor-to-mediocre quarterbacking and the qb ratings would surely bear that out. Way up the conference ladder, bama and lsu miss last years qbs mightily...GA too. Gators are crossing their fingers after ditching Driskell. Missou's Mauck runs hot and cold. Arky could be the lone exception to the must-have-a-top-qb proposition. AU and A&M are set at that position, obviously.
The real story is the emergeance of the mississippi schools and ky, and it starts with the guy behind center with each. Hats off to those coaches, especially Stoops (pains me to say it) for getting it done in that critical area.
You can recruit your butt off and have the best ranked classes and all that, but the head coach and his livleyhood are tied to one player and one player only.

at least with our 'zone read' the opposing defense has no idea who going to get the ball.

Everything I've seen thus far makes me think LSU is the worst team in the SEC West, not Arkansas. And they would probably finish #2 in the East.

Could be hedge.....
...or it could be that either Auburn or Mississippi State is just flat out awesome. If its a complete and total wipeout (one way or the other) @ State on Saturday (the way Auburn and State beat the hell out of LSU and A&M last Saturday), I'd have to say that team is probably the number one team in the nation, and its not even close. I would expect the winner to clean everyone's clock. But,
if it is a real close game (dicey right until the end the way Alabama and Ole Miss was), then maybe there wont be an SEC champion with less than 2 losses? And that would be unfortunately given how talented that SEC West is this year.

Yes, I was wrong to rank Arkie as high as Bama. Obvious sandbag.
