Crazy luck and Cal as the opposing coach, as in 2008. Memphis up 3 and you don't foul KU on the inbounds? Wonder how UK fans will feel if something similar plays out tonight? Obviously the chances against any such similar occurrence are astronomical, but if this squad loses on a clear coaching error, as Cal/Memphis did in 2008, yikes...

Well, this season seems to be the season where Cal's kids don't miss a bunch of free throws (well, except for Saturday, so hopefully that's not a bad omen). That, moreso than the non-foul on Chalmers, is what cost them that game.

No doubt Memphis's poor ft shooting put them in the position to only be up 3 with 10 seconds to go (hell, on their last possession in regulation, Memphis could've iced the game if they'd hit both ft's (forgot who was shooting, I think it was the dude with 2 last names but maybe it was Rose, and anyway, they'd missed a bunch more before that)), but yet and still, they did find themselves up 3 with 10 seconds to go. They could've easily let KU bring it up and eat a few seconds off the clock and then fouled. Instead, they chose to lay back in the cut, which cost them the game. That's on the coach. Somewhat similar to when Webber called a timeout they didn't have against us in '93, the main difference being that Michigan was down 2 in that situation. It would've been like if we had had the ball up 2 and one of our guys had called a timeout and then Michigan got 2 ft's and possession and ended up winning. That would've been on Dean, but of course the chances of that happening to a Dean Smith coached team would've been slim to none. All part of the game...

I don't know how UK fans would feel, but it sure would make Dave23's year...

I remember when Kentucky was looking for a new coach and Dave was absolutely in denial that Calipari could possibly his beloved team right up until the end. A scenario like you mentioned would be oh-so sweet justice for him...

I started posting during the 2000 tourney.

is that about par for everyone else?

I started during the '99 season. I didn't even have a computer at home then and couldn't wait to get to work the day after UConn foiled dook. Tarheeldog had been praying all week and he was in fine form and TomAris quit winking and smiling. oh man, those were the days. I think every poster got in about 3 or 4 vicious debates every day.
that all sounds familiar- it may have been '99 for me as well and not 2000...

This morning the President of UK expelled those arrested Saturday night, and has issued a no uncertain terms warning on FB; those arrested tonight will be prosecuted and expelled.

now you've gotten to finally enjoy the experience that all the other SEC teams' fans have gotten to enjoy over the past 70 years when they went to N'awlins for the Sugar bowl....

Talent defended Tressel the same way. At least Dave stuck around to face it.

I would normally jump in here and claim that this was an obvious jinx, but we all know Kentucky fan is likely to torch the town in defeat as well as victory tonight.

talent wins rat is second. all the rest of us owe money to #416

I have no problem with kentucky winning tonight. the davis kid seems like a good kid and the rest of the team really play well together. 137 points seems like a steel for the under. ku has to hit some shots outside better then they have and hope kentucky hits nothing out there.

that said 68 62 kentucky

I'd love to see Crotch after UK wins tonight. He'll be sitting there shrugging and stone-faced, acting like he's been there before...

"137 points seems like a steel for the under."

I wonder what the over/under for the UNC/KU game was. They threw up 94 in the first half alone. I'm sure KU won't play like that tonight, though...

Somebody on ESPN just said that UK has been waiting a long time for this night - "by their lofty standards". I guess he hasn't read my numberous missives in here proving that UK is well accustomed to waiting 12 years (at least) between championships. In fact, it's much less than their norm. It was 20 years b/w their 4th and 5th titles, and then 18 years before their next one. I don't know what "lofty standards" they're referring to...
