The only way to fix our current crisis is for American voters to say NO to all candidates with a D or an R after their names. Every last one of them.

But we are too caught up in their rhetoric and media spin to do that.

probably 99% of all decently trafficked message boards have a Tyler Durden. Its the name of Brad Pitt's character in Fight Club. One poster who went by Tyler Dureden years ago at WX posts under the moniker Ding Chavez here (a character from Tom Clancy books and movies and video games based on them).

Special Forces soldier dies trying to save NC kids

HOPE MILLS, N.C. (AP) -- A decorated Green Beret who returned from his fifth deployment to Afghanistan last summer died Tuesday trying to rescue his two young daughters from their burning home near Fort Bragg. The girls were also killed in the blaze.

Edward Cantrell and his wife escaped from the 1 a.m. blaze by jumping from the home's second floor, the Cumberland County sheriff's office said. Cantrell then wrapped himself in a blanket and re-entered the burning home in Hope Mills, about 10 miles from the Army base that is home to the Green Berets and other Special Forces units, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said.

Cantrell, 36, was trying to reach 6-year-old Isabella and 4-year-old Natalia, who were trapped in second-floor bedrooms, Tanna said.

------------

The three bodies were all recovered on the second floor, he said. It did not appear the father was able to reach the girls.
Damn sad.

LMBO.

So we have these drug shortages that the gubment is complaining about. Turns out the very reason for the shortages the gubment is griping about are a direct result of the gubment regulations.

But the funniest thing is people are actually shocked that the gubment is contributing to the problem.

I will probably vote for Newt in the primary, but I agree with IB that he should get out of the race. Newt has only won two states. His chance of being nominated is near zero. All he is doing is splitting the conservative vote with Santorum. If Newt stays in much longer, he will guarantee Romney's nomination. If Newt drops out, the conservative Republican voters will naturally gravitate towards Santorum - the last non-Romney standing - and the GOP might yet have a conservative nominee.

Why do you think Newt is staying in? Because he would rather see Romney win than Santorum. Paul would rather see Romney win than Santorum. No one likes Santorum except hilljacks

"The deficits and huge addition to the debt were a very unfortunate answer to staving off total economic disaster, beginning with W's TARP and continuing through oprama's first three years. No doubt reducing the debt will have to be a priority once the recovery has a stronger foothold."

Well then how come the budget never gets below $900 billion in annual deficit in any year through 2024 under Obamas new budget proposal?

Heh. You mean the budget proposal that has zero chance of being approved ?

With the economy stabilized, a combination dem WH and R Congress should be able cobble together some reduction a la the 1990's. It's GOT to happen, or our dollar is eventually going to go the way of the peso. Maybe an all-GOP government would do it bigger and faster, but realists like Will and Scarbrough have conceded that the repubs have blown that opportunity...and instead are focusing on making gains with the lawmakers.

I don't think Obama or the Dem's see the deficit as a problem. They are in a state of denial like the Greeks were until late last year. They honestly believe that simple math does not apply to their fiscal policies. They think they can spend and borrow as much as they want with no consequences. They will remain in this state of economic autism until the Chinese quit loaning us money to provide free birth control for all, green energy hoaxes, high speed trains, etc.

The good news, such as it is, is that President Obama has finally gone back to fighting against premature austerity — and he seems to be winning the political battle. And one of these years we might actually end up taking Keynes’s advice, which is every bit as valid now as it was 75 years ago.

Paul Krugman, resident NYT genius.

Most of them used to express concern over the deficit. Thinking that by raising taxes we could close the gap. Then Obama submitted his plan with tax rates higher than Clinton's and they see that the gap doesn't close that much. Then they realize that even if they tax the top rate at 100% the gap is still woefully wide. Now they've all all of a sudden are Krugmanites, saying deficits don't really matter because they need to keep feeding their constituents to sta in office.
