Good story about a good friend of mine that I grew up with who made it big in the music industry. Drummer for Jerry Reed back in the '80s.



BTW, I was at the Jerry Reed concert in our little 'burg' when he came to our annual festival in '82. Absolutely poured the rain and Reed almost got electrocuted while on the 18 wheeler flatbed they were performing on at the football field. Had to stop the show early because of the rain.

I'm sure this will cause a significant decrease in gang membership.......

I like how you started that story with a mention of the music industry big time and then, to illustrate the rarefied level you meant, you thrilled us with a tale of a concert in a field where the musicians played on a flatbed trailer and had to cancel midway thru the show due to weather. I'm sure that happened to the Rolling Stones all the time...

went to Maggiano's a couple of nights ago.

I really like that place - its been awhile since I've gone to a restaurant that works really hard for my business. They are always sending me $10 coupons, the wait staff is great, just a good experience where I don't mind dropping a little extra .

Anyways we got there and they had a family option plan for groups of 4 or larger. For $33.95 per person you got unlimited servings of

1 of 4 choices of salad - similar to the olive garden thing
1 appetizer of about 12 choices
2 Pasta dishes that included some shrimp and chicken options - about 15 choices in all
2 Entree dishes - about 12 choices in all
2 deserts -about 8 choices although it included spumoni with shouldn't really count.

And its all unlimited

so basically you finish the plate, they bring another and if you have any left over you can bring it home.

We were stuffed, my son (with some help from me) knocked out 2 New York Cheesecakes and as a family we ate 2 trays of Salmon and 4 Cheese ravioli. We walked with 3 to go dishes that served as lunch the next day.

With wine for us and soft drinks for the kids and including a healthy tip we walked out for less than $190.

Its not something I'll do every week of course but that was a great meal. Its not often all 4 of us are really happy with the decision of where we eat.

I think Maggiano's is the first place to give you an extra meal to take home, free. Being at the Olive Garden this past Sunday, they are now doing the same thing. I hate Olive Garden, but a certain teenager in my family loves it.

Back in the 80's I really liked Olive Garden.

Now I guess Buca is my favorite chain Italian but the Maggianos family style was just as good and the all you can eat for any option was great too.

I guess if you look at the price $33 for an all you can eat Italian buffet isn't that great of a deal but I don't feel ripped off.

I plead guilty to food. Hell, I just gave up Golden Corral 5 years ago..but you know we all do stupid things to make the wife happy.

btw, flights to places where Muslims are driving vans into crowds are cheap. You should look into that.
