Yeah... some things just have a way of coming back.

Ready for four more years of Obama?

I will be voting tomorrow in the Vermont primary for a Republican... not to sandbag for the worst option... but for the guy who I want to beat Obama.

Conservatives are not slaming college (per se.) They are slaming the college bullshit.

Women's Studies, African-American Studies, <anything) Studies, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Communication, Journalism, English Lit, pretty much all useless, bullshit degrees that now DEMAND massive amounts of free interning if you ever want to do anything with this education. And you are on the hook for $100K in student loans? And you can take these degrees and go to Law School and after another $100K in student loans, still not find a job.

You wont hear Conservatives denigrating a BSN program, engineering, computer science, or any technical education majors. They know where the jobs are. They know where the return on investment is for college education.

Not since Herbert Hoover has a party out of power had such an opportunity to run against everything that troubles the American family—prices, interest rates, unemployment, taxes, or the fear for the future of their old age or the future of their children—than is now presented to the Republican Party.

The Republicans, however, haven't figured this out. This is their basic problem. They have no strategy for defeating an Obama administration that is highly vulnerable on both domestic and foreign policy.

It will come as no surprise that these words appeared in a Feb. 29 column in the New York Times. They are reproduced here exactly as written, save for one small adjustment.

The president whose failings they describe is Jimmy Carter, not Barack Obama. The lines were written in 1980, not 2012. The author was the then-dean of conventional wisdom, James "Scotty" Reston. The headline was "Jimmy Carter's Luck," a reference to Reagan's victory in the New Hampshire primary three days earlier.

It appears the conventional wisdom hasn't changed much. Today's narrative holds that however weak President Obama's hand, Republicans find themselves in no position to capitalize on it. A glance back to where we were at this exact point in the 1980 primaries suggests otherwise.

Ummm, when Jimmy Carter was the incumbent president, the Republicans came up with Ronald Reagan.

I served with Ronald Reagan. I knew Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was a friend of mine.

Senator, SantoRomney is no Ronald Reagan.

I just read an AP story in our republican daily paper that says the jobs forecast has improved mightily over earlier predictions. That the unemployment rate will be 8.0 in November - just in time for the election. And that it'll fall to 7.4% at the end of 2013. Combined with the stock market, and news of industrial production being up, as well as auto and truck sales and single-family home sales..well, there's a definite upturn in the economy.

You even get a taste of that on Fox, even if those tidbits are only used as a setup when describing how growing gas prices and Europe will snuff out any and all recent economic gains being seen nationally. To this objective observer (and a captive one - the fitness center TVs never waver from FN)...it appears as though Fox always highlights the bad rather than accentuating the good. Roughly 100% of the time.

Possibly the most brilliant statement of all time....inversely, take gas prices....federal debt....true unemployment....bankruptcies....the middle east...presidential approval rating......then take out Fox and put NBC/ABC/CNN/MSNBC/NYT/WP in and........OMG!!??

Genius, I tell ya.

Close second to Tick's brilliant statement....Reagan was ridiculed same as today's crop of repubs, and all polls had him losing to Carter, but pls carry on w/your brilliant revisionary discourse.

With Nobel Prizes and cars, those Europeans are a pretty sharp bunch.....

Days after General Motors announced it was temporarily suspending production of the Chevy Volt, the electric car was named European Car of the Year.

The Geneva Auto Show announced Monday that the Volt, which is sold in Europe as the Opel Ampera, was named its 2012 Car of the Year ahead of its annual car show that opens this week.

Go back and search my posts. Always said the timing of the biz cycle was going to work in Oprama's favor. People can only decide to wait on certain things for so long before they have to purchase.

Aka cars. The avg age of cars in private hands is at an all time high. It was only a matter of time before people must start buying newer cars which is now really starting to hit its stride. Of course that has a large trickle down effect with suppliers etc.

As long as bls.gov is calculating the stats in the same manner as previous years....good deal. Not sure I believe a huge drop in rate when the number of jobs increased wasn't a huge number.

I still believe that uncertainty is acting like a dampener on the economy. Not knowing what taxes are going to be or what regs for opramacare are going to is a HUGE factor in hiring and expanding biz.

And of course the immense amount of debt that oprama has added is the 8 trillion pound gorilla in the room. You can only whistle past the graveyard for so long.

LMAO. A likeable one-issue naif or a political transvestite is the new Reagan. I'm saving this post for future reference.

Not necessary - I remember you saying exactly that.

The polls indicate that the uncertainty is starting to lift. Obviously it's in the interests of some to keep the uncertainty alive.

The deficits and huge addition to the debt were a very unfortunate answer to staving off total economic disaster, beginning with W's TARP and continuing through oprama's first three years. No doubt reducing the debt will have to be a priority once the recovery has a stronger foothold.

So SantoRomney is the new Reagan?

I didn't say anything like that, just compare apples to apples, tough concept, I know. Yer using post-election Reagan and comparing to pre-election (candidate).

Yer using post-election Reagan and comparing to pre-election (candidate).
Pre-election Reagan had the full range of consistent conservative beliefs and communication skills to beat a weak sitting President. He proved that by doing it.

Pre-election SantoRomney show no signs of such ability.

Neither did candidate hopey-changey, but with a willing press, inane useful idiots and recession, he pulled it off....sanity has since set in, see mid-term elections, people are actually paying more for gas and Big Oil profits are as high as ever, just not being reported daily. People, well most, won't be making vote decisions on the frivolity that you love chattering about. Unemployment only shows improvement because soooo many have stopped looking and benefits have ended, thus lowering the pool of jobs. But please, continue chirping about "SantoRomney" like an MSNBC talking head.

Just out of curiosity, what "frivolity" do I "love chattering about"?

I admit I have not jumped in on the unfolding Chevy Volt Crisis. I trust you to man the Situation Room on that epic drama.
