I'm a little concerned about Amazon's announcement of cutting whole foods prices by as much as 43%
Mainly because I don't think Amazon needs to make a profit with whole foods - which may be good for consumers in the short run but very bad for them in the long run.
I do like Whole Foods, but only for specific shopping trips - like when we decide we wanted to splurge for an "organic" turkey for Thanksgiving or get what I perceive to be high quality fruit. Whole foods is not my everyday shopping experience. Kroger and Meijers are and both of those stores run on thin margins and rely on volume.
Back in the day this type of business practice was similar to what Standard Oil did and was the result of the anti-trust /anti-monopoly laws that were put in place.
IIRC , Rockefeller had so much money that he could afford to build a gas station next to a competitor and sell gas at that location below profits in order to squeeze them out of business and he did this on a large scale
No one really cried much to Amazon doing this to Big Box because Wal-Mart had already established itself. and Walmart is taking the hit as much as anyone else in competition to Amazon - but killing off community super markets is a different level problem. When Amazon opens up its blue-apron competitor but using whole foods as the supplier its going to cover alot of areas in the consumer market. And I don't think that is long term good for consumers.

Why did you put "organic" in quotation marks?

I don't know - I guess because I think an organic turkey is borderline absurd.

Organic meat, assuming that means it's not pumped full of antibiotics, has real meaning and value. Now, organic bananas, that's ridiculous.

I am fine. My parents are actually with me, they got about 20 inches of water in their house which is actually less than TS Allison 16 years ago. In my area of town its mostly areas very close to the bayous. Most bad areas are gonna be east of town from me or much farther west.

Watch out for floating fire ant rafts. Those things are nasty on land AND on water.

You're actually taking her to Newport, KY
http://www.hofbrauhausnewport.com/ is a popular place.
from the aqaurium you guys can walk across the purple people bridge into Cinci
from there turn left and walk toward the banks
http://thebankscincy.com/shop-dine/
- you can catch the new Cincinnati Trolley and ride it Findlay Market.
http://www.findlaymarket.org/
on your way back stop off at Fountain Square.
Between Haufbrau House and Findlay Market is pretty much all of downtown tourist Cincinnati to take in. There is more than a days worth of stuff
I'm headed up to Fort Wayne Saturday to pick up some parts.
