How often has the popular vote winner not been the electoral vote winner? I know Gore won the popular vote but lost the electoral vote, but who else has?

In 2012 the electoral college is still a good idea because...
1) it gives a statistical advantage to small states that would otherwise be ignored (unlike some of the big states being ignored now)
2) Having to do a nationwide recount would be terrible

3) It dilutes the power of the northeast corridor of washington DC up to boston and the state of california where most of the population resides and at least makes some rural voters relevant

I don't think any rural voters should be relevant...

Just saw this headline, I liked it for some reason...

"If Romney wins, he would begin his first term as a baffling figure"

Maybe they are using baffle in the sense of a baffler on an engine. I'm not sure what that means, either, but I still like it...

doesn't the engine baffler follow the same principle as the standard definition? or is it just a word that redneck grease monkeys can toss around, not unlike "rectifier?"

Along those lines, Ray Goff just replaced one of the actuators on my truck. It didn't take much to get him to say "actuator" whenever I wanted to hear it...

I just want all the money spent by Adelson, William Rose, Ken Griffin, the Kochs, the Marriott brothers, John Paulson, Julian Robertson and ass hole Texan Harold Simmons to be all for naught. An Obama win would make me feel very happy solely to show a small list of fat cats that simply plowing cash into a candidate and then restricting the exercise to simply a marketing campaign will not be successful.

I think they've paid handsomely to keep this thing close. I can't believe I was conned by Romney back in 2008.

Julian Robertson was in my fraternity. Several of my frat brothers worked for him in the 80's and 90's (and for DLJ - there used to be some connection b/w them and Tiger)...

In 2012 the electoral college is still a good idea because...

...at least Tennessee will have one college it can beat in football?

Ohio still solid blue but has faded a bit since I first checked in around 17% in. now 31% and Obama's up 54-45%
