This girl is 27 years old, and has been on the Turo portal for 3+ years. She currently has 12 cars on the portal in the Dallas market, and those 12 cars bring in $100,000+ in gross revenue each year. She has managed 17 different cars on the portal. One car she sold. The other 4 were "total losses" because the renter totaled them.
How are "totals" handled with Turo? Depends on your plan.
Here is one of Aubrey's 4 "totals" that she has had in three years.
2014 Ford Fiesta, gonzo
She bought it in July 2019 for $3500
$5370 in gross rentals in half a year (2019)
Expenses $1097 in 2019
2019 net revenue $4273
$3622 gross revenue in 2020 (a serious Covid-19 hit)
Expenses in 2020 $560 (a serious Covid-19 savings)
2020 net revenue $2916
Total expenses for car (including purchase price) $5157
so total net profit for the life of the car $4195
Turo's payout to Aubrey on her "total loss" (after her deductible) $4200
So TOTAL PROFIT after the total is $8395
So, she totals a car and makes $8395
The smallest possible commission you can pay on Turo is 15%, the 85 plan.
Now Aubrey is on the 70-30 plan with Turo. So she pays Turo "thirty-cents-on-the-dollar" for booking commission. So what does she get for that that the greedy person who is on the 85 plan doesn't?
She gets a $250 deductible. A person gets a $2500 deductible with the 85-15 plan. In that sense, the 85 plan host is facing ten times the risk that she faces. An 85 Turo plan host would get a $2000 check from Turo for that car if their renter totals it.
So 4 "totals" in 3 years, and Aubrey still maintains a fleet of 12 cars in Dallas. And she was only out $1000 on all 4 totals. And if all the other "totals" were as profitable as this 2014 Ford Fiesta was for Aubrey, its no wonder she loves the Turo portal as host.
SO yeah guys, I still need cars. Who is selling? Anyone? Anyone?

So, you're basing your investment strategy off of a youtube video that is designed to market to folks like you?
How many times have you attended seminars touting tax foreclosures as investments so that you could "learn" how to do something any fucking ingrate could do in some halfass fashion.

No. We already made the decision on Turo long before I started snooping youtube. I am posting the youtube for YOUR benefit, not mine. I don't need any confirmation bias.

None. No seminars.
So, is your 2016 Suburban for sale DS? How many miles on it? If its under 90,000 miles, I'll buy it. You said you wanted to sell things. Here is your chance to "eviscerate" me, counsellor.

No I am not.
Look, I think the main problem we (as a nation) are facing is that all of us are not in a position to accumulate and build real wealth. That is a serious problem. That is especially the case when you have assholes like Karl Smith over at Bloomberg saying that we should be satisfied (as a nation) to be a nation of renters. You think that may be a problem hedge? Go read his screed, it will make you sick.
I don't know if you still live in North Carolina or not but I do have some extended family and some close friends who live in the technology triangle. They tell me part of the North Carolina culture is LAND. Even poor North Carolinians, or should I say, North Carolinians who are NOT RICH by any stretch of the imagination, they have LAND. They have some small piece of LAND somewhere in North Carolina and that is their WEALTH. They don't hold stocks, bonds, gold, bitcoin, none of that bullshit. But even a very modest, working class resident of North Carolina, you have some piece of undeveloped LAND somewhere, something you can put your feet on that is yours. Maybe you hunt on it. Maybe you fish on it. Maybe you camp on it. Maybe you make hooch on it. But its yours. That is how they accumulated wealth in your state.
I don't know if that is the case anymore. If the average North Carolina resident doesn't own a small piece of LAND somewhere, then I think that is a big problem. That was your culture of wealth accumulation.
Look Turo is great for me. Its great for any creative and inventive person who wants to have small fleet of cars. I think its great that the individual (gigging) can compete on equal terms with Alamo and Enterprise. But most people are not responsible enough for that kind of commitment. Even so, to build that kind of business, that is building wealth. You don't have to be John Rockefeller. You could just be Joe Average. And I really wish people would do that more instead of just living for the day and waiting for the next government bailout.

So. Are you using your government bailout money to fund it?

I don’t need your fucking money, and I would stand in a fucking soup line before taking it in trade from a cocksucker like you.

Hey man, I'm not the one who profits from destroying marriages and ruining families. Sleep well counsellor. I'm sure all those children who saw their dad thrown out of the house because of what you did, love you for it. I'm sure their lives are ruined by your actions in the court room, but you need to make a buck. Oh, tick-tock, tick-tock, goes the clock. As Pink Floyd said in their greatest album, "...one day closer to death." I hope your soul is good with God because eternity is a long time and hell may very well be hotter than Phoenix is right now (but maybe not?)
At least Jamie Sheridan's character who defended all the pedophile priests did the right thing at the end here.
He's good with God now. It's not took late counsellor. Repent.

No one has to do it. When wives used to go irrationally feral (happened all the time) the husband had authority to correct her hysterical behavior. No more. Lo and behold, very few marriages rat.
