LMAO. I'm watching O'Reilly now, he found some black bishop who is anti-democrat (hates same sex marriage and all that, which is the basis for his objection to the dems), now he's got two guests on to comment on the bishop, both of them are black pastors. So O'Reilly is introducing them, and he says "We have with us Pastor Williams of the Unified Church (can't remember the name or church, but stay with me) and Paster McGrath, who is a Fox New contributor (this part is accurate). Let's start with you, Pastor Williams" and he nods at one of the guys and the guy says "I'm Pastor McGrath". O'Reilly was clearly flummoxed, you could practically hear the voice-over in O'Reilly's voice saying "Whatever, you all look the same to me." The dude was ostensibly a Fox News "contributor" and O'Reilly had no idea which was which or who was who and I don't think he really cared. Yeah, yeah, everybody can make a mistake and I'm sure it's happened before, but it was particularly funny coming at precisely this moment in precisely this context...

Then, as soon as that segment is over, a commercial comes on about home security. Shows some clearly rattled woman talking about her home being invaded while she was there. Clearly the advertisers know the Fox audience: Worried, disgruntled, terrified people who live in totally white bread suburbs who are nonetheless still terrified about their home being "invaded" while they are there. Vain ass motherfuckers, nobody gives a shit about you and your ceramic Jesus figurine collection. Rot in hell, cunts...

You be the judge
http://news.yahoo.com/anatomy-romneys-d ... 58640.html
President Obama's and Mitt Romney's campaigns have two dramatically different readings of a heavily disputed ad airing in the battleground state of Ohio that suggests auto companies General Motors and Chrysler are planning to ship jobs overseas.
A closer look at the history behind the ad, and Romney's similar statements on the campaign trail, show how a fairly routine business story became the dominant political football in the final days of the campaign, as both candidates stake their claim to Ohio with the president guarding a slight lead in the polls.
"Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy, and sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China," the Romney ad says. "Mitt Romney will fight for every American job."
Romney also said on the campaign trail in Ohio on Oct. 25 that he had learned from a news story that day that Jeep "is thinking of moving all production to China."
The ad started running a few days later on Oct. 28.
Chrysler has vehemently denied the ad's suggestion that adding Jeep production facilities in China will cost U.S. jobs. The company's CEO said this week that any such statement would be "inaccurate." GM has also flatly denied the Romney campaign's claims in a new radio ad airing in Ohio that suggested the company is shipping jobs to China.
Romney campaign officials stand behind the ad, which they say is accurate and only suggests that if jobs are being created in China, they are not being created in the United States.
What the ad claims and what it implies might be two separate issues, but Romney's aides initially claimed that the GOP challenger's Oct. 25 comments about Jeep in Defiance, Iowa were based on an early version of a Bloomberg News article that first reported on Chrysler's plans for production in China.
The article, written by a Michigan-based industry reporter Oct. 22, said the company would be "adding Jeep production sites," not shifting them to China. Chrysler itself called the piece "clear and accurate."
And a representative for Bloomberg told ABC News that the article was updated on the same day it was published with background information, days before Romney's Jeep claims made an appearance on the trail.
Indeed, when the company's vice president of corporate communications, Gilberto Rainer, wrote a blog post Oct. 25 reiterating that Chrysler did not intend to move North American jobs to China, it was in response to a second article by the Washington Examiner that reinterpreted the Bloomberg piece to mean something different: "Jeep, an Obama favorite, looks to shift production to China," the headline read.
In the piece, published on the newspaper's Washington Secrets blog, the Washington Examiner's Paul Bedard declared, "Jeep, the rugged brand President Obama once said symbolized American freedom, is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China." (Bedard acknowledged a few days later that his original article misinterpreted the Bloomberg story.)
On Oct. 25, Bedard's original article was aggregated on the Drudge Report and, later that day, Romney made his first comments about Jeep on the campaign trail.
But within hours of the Examiner story's publication -- and before Romney referenced the Jeep story at the Oct. 25 Ohio rally -- Chrysler refuted the Examiner's claims, calling it "a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats."
Chrysler's production of Jeeps in China had been ongoing for years and only ended in 2009 when the company went through bankruptcy.
A Romney campaign adviser Wednesday said he did not know that Chrysler has added jobs in Ohio, despite company CEO Sergio Marchionne's statement Tuesday reiterating plans to add more than 1,000 jobs in Ohio.
Romney spokesman Kevin Madden said the campaign isn't backing away from the ad. And the issue represents an opportunity for Romney to reframe the public debate about the auto bailout as an Obama policy with mixed results, rather than a clear success for states such as Ohio.
"We've got an ad out that we believe makes the case for why Gov. Romney would be stronger for the auto industry and why the auto industry's an important part of a strong economy," Madden told reporters. "They've got an ad that they're using to make their case to the public, and we'll leave that with voters."

EFZ @ Rat.
Also, it's another example of if your news solely consists of Fox News views and Drudge, you are not likely to be viewing things through a lens of unobjective truth (particularly if you predominately just read the Drudge headlines).

six republican offices were running unopposed, not a single democrat.

Fear. In a snapshot.
Democrats are pussies, generally. It's the same reason they all decided ahead of time which ones would vote for the invasion of Iraq and which ones would not.
However, if I want to go into the nuanced explanation, it's because of the fear of having the middle class get a tax increase in the middle of a tepid recovery. That's why the payroll tax holiday was extended, too. These moves help blow up the deficit, but it helps ease some pain from the populace in the form of (essentially) point-of-payment tax rebates. So, no pol wants to be seen as raising taxes in this economic climate during a national election season. As a get-around, the DEMs tried to only lapse the Bush tax cuts upper income individuals...and may ultimately get that. But, no way they raise middle class taxes unless the economy heats up.
Doing otherwise would put us on a Euro path where extreme austerity and tax increases to the working population has put a drag on their economy. Spain has a 25% unemployment rate (and people want to try and convince me Spanish Sovereign Debt is not standing on legs made of pine). Europe's overall unemployment rate is about 15%. So, we're kicking their asses, even with our struggles. Many don't want to damage this lukewarm trend with cutting spending and increasing taxes for nearly all Americans.

It occurred to me that Romney might just be the modern day Marie Antoinette. Every speech he makes, half the country hears him say "let them eat cake"

Actually, I'm convinced the only reason Romney is even slightly hanging in with this race is partially due to race and the Right's insistence that any information from the "Lame Stream Media" is naturally biased against GOPers. I just don't get how someone who makes such drastic swings in positions is even taken seriously. I stand on my original point that if Romney was a Democrat who went from the far left to the center, like he has done from the far right to center during this cycle, he would be accused of being the Anti-Christ by these Hard Right Fundies. They sit silent because he has an (R) after his name and he's running against Obama.
It's fascinating political theater.

the Democrat running for a state senator spot (against a guy me and Hedge went to high school with) was busted for trafficking heroin and opiates about 10 days ago.
then there's a state house race between a fat Dem black lawyer with several DWIs and a Pub sort-of-hot doctor's wife who seemingly has no clue as to what she will do in office as all of her public statements have been vague generalizations

That must've happened after I voted. If I had known that, I would've voted for the heroin trafficker...

It's not about race. They hated Bill Clinton just as much, if not more. And, yes, they'll vote for Romney just because he has an (R) next to his name, just like the Illini folk will vote in Jesse Jackson,Jr because of the (D) next to his name and the Mass. folk will elect a senator who blatantly lied about her heritage to get minority benefits just because she has a (D) next to her name.

Bill Clinton would be ahead of Romney by 9 points with the same Obama record. Now, all of that lead wouldn't be about race. Clinton is from the south and is just a MUCH better politician than Obama. By a mile. However, IMHO, about 3 or 4 points is surely on race. The amount of people polled last year who stated they "weren't ready for a Black President" was way too high for race not to be a factor...I mean, they answered that and they HAD a Black POTUS for 2.5 years!
Also, if Elizabeth Warren had more junk they could attach to her name that created a nice narrative about her lying to get shit, then it would stick. However, that one item was not going to get traction over a long campaign. That had nothing to do with her (D). Voters won't cancel a pol on one minor item that can be explained away as not nefarious.

What do you mean? Barack Obama received more votes in 2008 than Clinton in either of his elections and the economy under Clinton was doing a whole lot better than it is now.
