Back in the day, records were just folders in file cabinets. After a while, they'd sometimes accidentally get thrown away, misplaced, destroyed.

Happened in hospitals too.

Yep. The article said that the incident (if true) happened prior to digital records kept and those often come up missing. So, I'm not sure they hit a wall.

Hey, we're speeding to a (R) nomination of a Canadian that has 100% the same situation as was alleged against PBO. How quick did that brouhaha become a non-issue? Holy shit, that karmic wheel was tiny and fast. Obama won't even be out of office before he sees a principle challenge to his authority by the Right manifest in their next candidate for his office. It's amazing. Both GOP paths are fantastic. Whether it's Trump or Cruz, the storylines are gonna be fantastic for Poli Sci and History students for decades.

On the DEM side, Hillary is being challenged by a guy who is not even a Democrat for the role. She's a horrible politician and doesn't seem to have too much of a moral center. Bernie is a cause candidate who only knows the slogans, not the policies.

I'm not voting in this election. I'll let God figure out who gets the keys.

I never thought Obama wasn't a citizen

but more to the point Cruz and Rand Paul used the exact same model Obama did to get to the presidency

Become a 1 terms Senator, lock onto an ideology and don't do anything one way or another so people will talk about what you stand for, not what you've accomplished (good or bad)

Cruz just thought he had the whole outsider thing locked up and then Trump, Fiorina and Carson saw the same writing on the wall he did

I dont know if Cruz did nothing, didn't he kinda go out of his way to be a dick at every opportunity (even to his own party) based on his idelogical dogma?

Yes. Yes he did...his "do nothing" was a MAJOR "do something" because it has been a big hit to the Congressional brand. Then he runs against it.

Seriously, it is fantastic to watch how things are now.

I don't know if I am changing or they are, but I really used to like listening to NPR - it was kind of a ying to my redneck yang

but now I've really started paying attention to the details of what they say and how they present it. I mostly roll my eyes at them at this point.

My biggest issue is what qualifies as an expert to them. They're really bad about taking a topic and then bringing someone who is obviously heavily biased in the topic.

Like a report on women supporting Hillary Clinton and then they have a former women's rights advocate interviewing 3 women to give this solidify the story's narrative with the listener. That was yesterday.

Today is about the BLM protesters interrupting Bill Clinton and trying to cast him in a bad light for his 1994 crime bill. Its easy to be a 20 year engaged protester and forget about the crack epidemic in the inner city in the early 90's. Not to mention that Bill Clinton has probably done as much if not more for black America than Barak Obama - and hell, I'm not even a Bill Clinton fan. Don't ask me what he's done - I just remember everyone saying Bill Clinton was the first black president.

The one thing that both of those stories had in common is the persons doing the interviews might have been 25 at the most - and I think I'm just at the point where I have trouble believing most 25 year old have anything substantive to add to the adult conversation.

I realize thats dangerously close to me yelling at them to get off my lawn but I know my world view at 25 - far too idealistic while being completely self serving.
And I'm not seeing much different in them.

At any rate, I'd like to think NPR should be more responsible - they no longer have me thinking about the topic, they have me thinking about why they are trying to shape my opinion with low budget editorials disguised as investigative reporting.

So the next fund drive, I'm keeping my $10. That'll show 'em!

Its becoming bubble gum news reporting, now, but as long as you mentally put it in its place, I still enjoy listening to certain shows: All Things Considered on Fridays with the political wrap up, Marketplace, and This American Life. I hate the Moth Radio Hour, its just a bunch of people demanding attention on themselves.

I used to like Diane Rehms, she usually has some pretty solid guests, but she's really bad about interjecting her opinions into the conversations

I still enjoy Terry Gross and Fresh Air. That's what NPR should be about in my opinion.

Being aware like that, eCat, helps to understand that most of these news outlets function like that. You're doing better than most when you recognize what they're doing and not falling for it.

"I used to like Diane Rehms"

I love whenever she is out, they always go into a slightly too long explanation that it's because she's getting treatment for whatever it is that makes her talk like she does...

NPR used to be like my liberal desert.

I only watch the NBC evening news. I never watch any 24/7 news channel unless there is a plane crash or some shit . I just refuse to do so . I get the rest of my news from bouncing around the internet.

so NPR is like my little FM radio sanctuary to hear what the enlightened people are thinking. But for like the last 2 years...ugh I end up saying "fucking morons" more often than not.

I really think its just because I'm getting older though. I'm not sure my priorities are changing but I'm thinking end game moreso than unlimited future. It changes your perspective.

I heard her say like 10 years ago what was wrong with her but I can't remember. She is out alot though.

road trips I might flip on NPR or some neoconservative for that zipcode when you scan after listening to music for 300 miles.

only local NPR comes from KU which I rarely listen too

I give equal creedance 1-2 times weekly scanning msnbc/fox/cnn but for the most part nbc or abc nightly news --the local news then whatever hbo series or amazon or Netflix series or network sitcom me and the wife agree on

spend about an hour a day on news

my kids hate it when we are in the car but it makes us talk about stuff besides school and sports.

I can't listen to talk radio - evens sports - and I'm not sure why I am this way but I can't deal with people calling in. I think its the talking head giving credence to whatever horseshit take they have.

on road trips we have sirius so I"m all over the place but my daily commute , its just NPR - on the way in, at lunch and on the way home. That usually only maybe 20 minutes total each day though - I live 2 miles from work.

I'm all public transportation to work, so everyday I read longform articles, mark up presentations from my staff or read a book (if I have any that I'm reading at the time) daily. I do not miss driving to work. Occasionally, I will drive in but it's so much faster and easier for me to subway it.
