I thought they got some of his earnings. Then he kept getting arrested and that was that.

OJ gets $25K a month from the NFL , which now that he is behind bars, his daughter blows on vodka and shopping. He lost his $500K home in Florida to foreclosure because she stopped paying the mortgage in 2010.

The Goldmans got all the money from the sale of his book and I guess the fact that OJ had to sell his memorabilia which he later tried to get back at gunpoint resulted in him spending the rest of his life in prison worked out for Goldman.

Goldman also changed the cover of the book

OJ knew that he belonged in prison and that's where he conscience ended up putting him.

The story of a motel owner that spied on his guests have sex for 20 years. Its a long read and mostly clinical in its approach but it kept my attention

Gay Talese, a graduate of Bama, was in the new for upsetting a feminist group last week. Now this article and a book on the way.

Honestly, I thought he had died.

Not that I am aware of. He had his wife with him when we met. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything (see: crashcourse).

You never really find out if he was lying about the woman dying or not.

Well, the early 70s were different...motherfuckers could just murder bitches and go about their lives, if they chose their lady correctly. We all benefit, in many ways, from the progress we've made in science and as humans over the decades. Every once in while, people get to see how good some of those "good ole days" were to some.

Maybe I'm just getting cynical as I maneuver through this "middle age", but I don't think cops back then looked too hard unless someone stepped up to say they missed her (the thing is, if someone did miss her it was probably someone in a place like West Texas who didn't know how to talk about it...or it was the exact opposite and they were happy she was gone).

The girlfriend of a drug dealer who was likely passing through, and a great distance from her hometown, probably doesn't get a lot of play when she goes missing. Especially back then. No internet. News came on TV once a day. So, maybe a mention once there, and a small piece in the local paper and then she'd be gone.

I wouldn't be shocked if she didn't have much of a family. Even if she did, but was was estranged, she'd just kind of fade away.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked if Mr. Foos was in the habit of making up or imagining shit.

In the 70's in Houston a dude was able to murder 30 kids all from pretty much the same neighborhood and never got caught until his accomplice shot his ass. The police kept telling all the families that their boys were just running away.

If I read the story right though there is no record of the killing or coroner report or whatever

its just like the ambulance came and dumped her off a cliff
