It’s work. I am here at a conference hotel with 180 people, none of who are wearing masks, and I don’t have a car or time to go anywhere.

I usually fly my daughter home over thanksgiving. This time we decided she'd drive. I just think travel will be a nightmare , moreso than it normally is over Thanksgiving.

Daughter is flying down on Allegiant from Boston for Thanksgiving....What could go wrong?

The biggest risk on these two carriers is they have no crew. With the labor shortage and flight attendants/pilots bolting from the low cost carriers to the majors the first chance they get, you have to hope that Allegiant and Frontier actually have crew available. AND you have to hope that the pilots haven't burned burned all their hours for 2021. This has almost ended Spirit airlines.

I wish you were flying on a Frontier flight with no crew...

The airline industry (given how regulated and how "well formed" the work is) is an almost PERFECT example of what happens with a pure supply-and-demand based business, operating in an economy with raw capitalism with regards to labor, productivity, and collective bargaining. You want to prevent your pilots from quitting? Let them form a union and let them get seniority. Then (once they are Captain and high enough on the seniority list) they will never quit. Of course, they may bankrupt you (ala Eastern Airlines in 1991) but, fuck it. You need crew.

To think, it was even MORE regulated back in the day than it is now.

I can't tell you how many Saturday mornings I was jolted out of bed with "GET YOUR WORK CLOTHES ON"
