Rat I do not think we know how important Marshall is to UNC he is the only pg on the roster and by far the best passing pg in the country.

I think UNC can beat Ohio without him but they cant beat any team with great talent,

Every time UNC as played a game this year every announcer said Marshall is the most important player on the team and cant afford to get in foul trouble.

So yes he is worth 20 points, especially since is back up is not Macado or Harriston

Kendall Marshall Update - Monday, 12:30pm
Kendall Marshall was scheduled to have surgery on Monday morning to insert a screw in his fractured right wrist, according to his father, Dennis.

His father tells IC the surgery went well and they got a promising prognosis. "We are all in good spirits," he added.

There has been no official word yet today from UNC on the surgery. A UNC official usually provides an official release with basic details at some point after surgery.

Don't expect any status update today in terms of Marshall's availability for Friday, though due to the successful surgery, the possibility of him playing again in the 2012 NCAA Tournament remains on the table.

UNC: Surgery Successful, Playing Status Unknown (2:53pm)
Marshall Undergoes Successful Surgery, Playing Status Unknown

Chapel Hill – University of North Carolina sophomore point guard Kendall Marshall underwent successful surgery this morning at UNC Hospitals to repair a broken scaphoid bone in his right wrist.

Dr. Don Bynum inserted a screw to stabilize the fracture, which occurred during the second half of Carolina’s win over Creighton in the third round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

Marshall’s playing status for Friday’s Sweet 16 game against Ohio University is not known at this time.

Head coach Roy Williams said he will not know until later in the week whether the nation’s leader in assists will be able to play against the Bobcats.

Marshall has 351 assists in 36 games this season, the most in Atlantic Coast Conference history and the fourth most in NCAA history. He had 18 points and 11 assists against Creighton, his fifth double-double in the last six games.

The Dumfries, Va., native is averaging 8.1 points and 9.8 assists for the season. He leads the NCAA in assist-error ratio at 3.5 to 1(second-best in ACC history) and is averaging 9.8 assists per game, the second-highest figure in the nation, the eighth-highest in NCAA history and the best in ACC history.

Marshall is averaging 14.8 points and 10.3 assists in the last six games. He became only the second Tar Heel to have consecutive double-doubles in points and assists in NCAA Tournament history.

Change my tune, I never did that never said they would lose to Ohio,

but if UNC does not win the title the season the season is failure

thus the season over comments, shit if they lose to Kentucky with out Marshall it is still a failure

No just realistic

this team with Larry Drew was average at best then Marshall changed everything,

now they do not even have Dexter

all they have is a 5-11 Mormon and 6-4 PF to play PG

Ohio is winable not sure if they can win after that

one of my first post on it

Roy Williams on Marshall's Injury (7:10pm)
From the radio show tonight ...

"The surgery went great. They felt like everything was as good as it could be.

"The fracture is at a point on the bone where it does get better blood supply than other parts of the bone.

* Noted he was at the hospital with Kendall and his father today and they had some really emotional moments.

"There's nothing else we can do. Nothing left to say, everything else is uncertain. ... We have no idea, he has no idea, so we'll just have to wait and see.

* Noted Jerod Haase and CB McGrath had same injury with varying results.

"My guess is he will not play ... but we're uncertain.

"Bottom line is North Carolina's going to play Friday and we've got to find a way to play great."

I never saw Talent post that he was in the pool except for after the games started over on Yahoo. The only times he's posted here since last May was to say something about Hizzy. It's cool though, he's a Buckeye fan, all Buckeyes like breaking the rules.

he sent me an email replying he was in before the game started. I didn't read it until after the games started and that was when I posted it on the yahoo site and over here

hes been in it every year. his achilles is kansas to the final game. sheer idiocy

pretty wide open I think all 8 of us have a chance

"despite all the Twitter stuff today from Marshall's dad, I still don't think he can play with much effectiveness this weekend if he even tries."

How could you even question it? Jonquil has already decreed that there is NO WAY Marshall can play anymore in this tourny. So that settles it...

Somehow I popped onto this on demand channel that has 15 minute highlight clips of past UNC/Dook games. I watched the double OT game from 1995. I have to admit that even I couldn't work up any hatred for the dumbass cameron crazies considering the scenario (them unranked and us #2). That was true, unscripted, unbridled joy that they were hanging with us. But the main thing that struck me was how good Stackhouse and Wallace were. I know how UK fans feel with Davis, but I don't even think he's as complete a player as Wallace was his sophomore year (although I think he would be if he stayed for his sophomore year). The other thing was Stackhouse's monster under the basket windmill slam after getting fouled by both Parks and Meeks. I've been waiting to see Harrison Barnes ram it home like that for 2 years. I'm still waiting. In short:

Stackhouse >>>>>>>>>>> Barnes

Wallace >>>>>>>>>>>> Henson

heres the thing, if he does play, whether anyone admits it or not, the opposing teams will go for the wrist,

and if the wrist is hurt worst , like the screw dislodged or whatever, that is on Roy putting the desire to win over the safety and well being of a player.

I understand the desire to play and the need to want him play, but from the outside looking in - this isn't a sprain or even a broken nose, this is a part of his body he'll use continually throughout the game.

Name of the channel?

That 1995 game against Arkansas was devastating.

Im cool with him being in although he skirted the rules we have followed for 11 years now. Next time you and Talent connect via your secret portal, ask him why he doesn't post here anymore yet still is in our pool? Talent is a joke. Once his beloved Tressel was exposed we haven't heard a peep out of the clown who's lips were suddenly sewn shut.

Yeah, its cool. He never posted anywhere here at TGP or even on the thread we were all told to say in on. Two hours after the tourney started he says not at TGP but at the yahoo bracket site that he's in.

Sounds pretty straight up to me.

Damn...I can't think of a worse punishment this time of the year. Oh well, here's to the Bear Camp winning out over the Cat Camp in the Goat Pen.

What's that? I meant the Baylor Bears over the Kentucky Cats, of course.
