If Marshall played 8 minutes with a broken wrist, this is going to be a test of Roy Williams character.
He has a national championship team. Will he make a decision to play Marshall and let the kid have surgery or whatever after the tourney?
In that regard, Pitino gave up a national championship to protect Anderson.

there is no new guy, Rat. Stillman White is an elevated scrub. Marshall is the one guy UNC couldn't lose if it wanted to win a title. If they still had Strickland, I'd say a long maybe but not now. Like I said, it was fun while it lasted.

I'm pretty sure it's the players' decision in both instances. This ain't One on One

I haven't watched Florida St play until now. They play really good switching off man to man defense.
They are playing a Cinci team that is peaking right now . Yates is a load.

So you can't beat Ohio U. without him?

wow, not sure if they were in the band or dance team or what, but Cinci has some girls that are sitting in front of the band dressed as whores.
I don't remember black lace ever being part of a school uniform but I like it.

In the Derek Anderson case, he begged to play in the Final Four, but Pitino absolutely refused. There was no player decision at all in that one - it's why some UK fans got so pissed. But, it was the right decision. He was just 6 weeks off of knee surgery.

Injuries are part of the game, its why you have a bench. Unfortunatley the loss of a key player in March can spell irrepairable damage. Who can ever forget Kenyon Martin breaking his leg with Cincinnati a dead favorite for the final four. If I remember right they lost in the first round.

I really felt bad for Cinci that year. Huggins had a kickass team and they were just deflated.
Unlike Lute fuckstick Olsen lying about the back injury to his guy to protect his #1 seed that year (which I think Syracuse did with Melo this year)

To All:
Yes, injuries are part of the game. Yes, you have to develop a bench. But you cannot plan for the following:
1. Larry Drew quitting the team in February 2011, after all the good PG recruits had commited.
2. Stillman White was an unrated, undersized, unathletic emergency PG recruit after his senior season of high school ended.
3. Dexter Strickland, our only other decent PG on the 2012 roster tears his ACL in January.
4. Kendall Marshall breaks a bone in his wrist in the NCAA Tournament.
This is not a woe is me post. But you cannot recover from all that.

Looking like a KU-UK rematch for the title now.

Not sure if they will beat Ohio, Rat. You can't take away a team's PG, esp. one like Marshall who excels in getting the ball where it needs to go, and expect it to keep going.
that KU player who dunked instead of running out the clock would have been horse-whipped if that 3-pointer went.

then Pitino was wrong. it should always be a player's decision, no matter what. these aren't little leaguers.
my guess is that Marshall on the floor playing one-handed would likely be a liability.

Injuries are part of the game but UNC as lost it 3 top guards, it would be like Kentucky losing Teague, Miller, and Lamb

Yes and even if UNC beat Ohio with out him which I think is possible beating Kansas, Syracuse and Kentucky with out him is totally different

It's not the player's decision in the pros, it's the team and the doctor. I don't see how it's left to the player in college.

see Billy Gillispie and Derrick Jasper.
Kid didn't want to come back , felt it was rushed, looked like fucking Little Forrest Gump out there in a knee brace and then transferred when Gillispie wouldn't give him a redshirt the following year.
