I think at 31-3 the Pats MIGHT have let off the gas a little......

Just saying....

Speaking of history, the Colts have 3 guys on the team that could be on TWO different 0-16 teams if the Colts finish that way.

luck is an unknown untested commodity at the nfl level. by most accounts he is worth 2-3 first plus additional draft picks. thats a helluval lot of building blocks for a team with multiple needs.

Manning has the brains and the self preservation to lead the colts for another 3-4 years. By most accounts colts the offense and the parts in it were taylormade for his game and those parts don't need adjusting. one could argue the defense is much better too when they know the offense is going to stay on the field long enough to put up 25-35 points a game

now that manning can throw again I think you put him through multiple p[ractice sessions in march before the draft and sign him if he is physcially fit--trad luck and take all those draft picks. Manning has done too much for the city of indy. his loyaltyneeds to be rewarded by giving him the benefit of the doubt. if manning is still physcially not performing in march--release him . That was the main reason manning wasn't placed on IR is to see where he is in december and January.

Here is my dream scenario Crash:

Manning is 100% able to pratice and has no effects from the surgery. In other words, Manning is back 100%. If that is the case:

Trade the pick to someone like Washington or Miami for a boat load of pics.

Find your future QB in the lower picks and groom that person for the next couple of seasons.

Get away from the small and fast philopshy on defense and go with big, quick, and mean.

Hire a new coach and start to change the culture. The Pornstache Messiah would be perfect. They need all new coaches from top to bottom.

Commit 100% to running the ball at least 25 times a game. This will help protect Manning if they can do it with success. This will also open up the play action passing game which Manning is deadly at. This means bulking up the OLine if necessary.

If they can do all that, they might have 1 more legit shot to getting to the Super Bowl and will have a solid foundation in place for whomever takes the ball from Manning when he retires.

"Manning has the brains and the self preservation to lead the colts for another 3-4 years."

if his 'self-preservation' skills are so amazing....why has he needed three neck surgeries in the past year? why hasn't he played a down this season?

As a fan of Peyton, I am beginning to think it's in his best interest to go to another team. And I think if I was a Colts fan, I would feel the same way. This season has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Indy has been a 1-man team over the past decade. Many of us suspected this all along. The haters scoffed at the notion, but once again they have been proven wrong. Even those who knew that the Colts were not a contender without Peyton probably had no idea just how big the drop-off would be. I know I didn't.

But I'm afraid that the Colts have now been irrevocably damaged by what they have learned about themselves this season. Pro sports athletes (nowadays maybe more than in other eras) are very self-conscious about being respected. And I'm sure a lot of the Colts players are having a hard time looking at themselves in the mirror right now. I'm afraid that, deep down inside, they won't want to win as much next season as they should -- because going back to being a playoff team with the addition of one man would only go further to prove how impotent they were without that one guy to carry their asses. I don't know if the pride of the modern pro athlete can stand the strain of that. Even the strongest of shoulders can only support so large a chip.

So let the Colts move on into the future with Andrew Luck. And let Peyton move on, maybe to a better team, where he will be able to finish out his career with some more opportunities at a SB -- and not have to do it all himself. That would be my wish.

disagree hack

houston kicked our ass first game and neworleans on a sunday night

other 10 games we have been competitive should have even won against tampa/kc/pitt losing in the last 2 minutes

that's why manning is so valuable and you give him every shot to play for the next two years and cash in on the luckamania to build a stronger team.

but in march if he isn't throwing at 90-95% % of his norm you get rid of him and draft luck
