the worst part is the roller coaster
one day I'm spraying out like a car wash hose, then I take immodium and it feels like I'm trying to pass a box of velveeta
I've been carrying that around for 2 days now.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

First line from that article:
"Nobody could make sense out of what happened to Mark Kilroy. It was all mixed up with black magic, white magic, drugs, mestizo superstition, gringo hedonism, coincidence, and random selection."
That pretty much sums up western civilization...

I respect both of those dudes' rights to sit or stand; to place their hand at their heart or side is fine, too.
I don't dismiss the power of symbolism...but that doesn't mean I lose sight of the fact that it is symbolism.

Yeah, I resect his right to do it, I also respect the right of the people who want to take him to task for it.

a better symbol would be donating a few million to a group that supports your beliefs.
given his situation and decision making, he's probably going to need to hang on to that money now.

Re: Uncle Bud
There is a code for flag etiquette U.S. Code § 301 addresses the proper etiquette for U.S. citizens to follow when the anthem plays.
When the anthem plays, a U.S. citizen should rise from his seat, stand at attention, face the flag and place his right hand over his heart. This etiquette also applies to children who are old enough to stand on their own
Individuals in military uniform must face the flag, and upon the first note of the anthem, perform the military salute. This position should be held throughout the entire anthem.
It is common for other countries’ national anthems to be played in the United States, especially during sporting events when participants represent different countries (e.g., the Olympics). During the playing of another country’s anthem, the National Flag Foundation states that U.S. citizens should face the guest country’s flag and stand at attention. Civilian males should remove their hats. Although this is not a law and you cannot be prosecuted for not doing it, not showing this respect for a reason that really has nothing to do with how you behave when the National Anthem is played is in fact disrespect for the USA as the American Flag is more than a symbol for this country. I am not a US citizen, I ALWAYS stand for the anthem (of any country). This so called man for which I have no respect regardless of what colour his skin is, makes thousands, if not millions, just for playing a sport in a country he states by his actions he has no respect for. IMO he should be suspended from the team.

Private job; they have the right to suspend him. But under his contract, he will still be paid for that time, sense it is guaranteed money.
I refused to pledge allegiance to the flag when I was 13.

Re: Uncle Bud
I do respect his (or anyone else's) right to not stand for the anthem, but I was saying that I actually respect him specifically for exercising it in this case. It would be much easier for someone in his position to do nothing even though he felt strongly about making a political statement in this case, given the kind of blow back that he surely knew he would get (and that Crotch provided a sample of). Of course if somebody was making some bullshit statement about white supremacy (or some such), I would still respect their right to do it, but I wouldn't respect the statement they were making. In this case, I'm ambivalent about what he is commenting on in a way that I am not with regards to white supremacy (etc), but I still respect him for standing up (or in this case, not standing up) to express his opinion. I'm sure plenty of folks, perhaps even Crotch, were outraged when some Olympians held up the black power fist on the medal podium in the 1968 Olympics. I respect those guys, too...

Re: Uncle Bud
Of course, I still for some romantic reason believe that the reason guys like the legless Marine who was upright in his wheelchair actually fought for our country was to defend our rights as American citizens and not for some other less august reason (imperialism, oil, the whim of our leaders, etc). It's not really respecting the sacrifices that guys like him have made if you lambast everyone who exercises the rights that he ostensibly lost his legs defending...

Re: Uncle Bud
same as Carolina getting the all star game jerked for what they believe in I think kaepernaek also has the right to believe in what he wants knowing full well what he is doing likely will impact his earning potential when he pisses off the consumer and corporate America.
one of these days a group needs to form that strategizes how best to deal with situations like this.
if the nba wants to pull the all star game then by all means every fan in Carolina should boycott the nnba for a month
if kaepernaek wants to shun the anthem every anthem loving individual should turn off SF football whenever he plays
if Disney refuses to deal with carolina over transvestite laws every Carolina parent who would like restrooms for their own kids to be anatomy based should boycott Disney world.
like AA says he's free to do it but others are free to tune him out
