Progress. You're richer for it and if your income did not move commiserate with those numbers (or close to it) then stop being lazy and get to work.

its not about not having losers, its about an ever widening expanse between the have and have nots and the growing number of losers.

That is in part because of the safety net we provide, but its also because we've lost site of how important it is to maintain a middle class because of misguided and abused propaganda - socialism, trickle down, liberalism and unionization that have been distorted and redefined.

When the myth of the American opportunity formula dies or the possibility of social mobility constricts, then we become weaker as a country.

We've always had losers and always will (it is one of the things even Jesus said, but never really discussed much). The issue is that the "winners" make up a smaller circle and the "loser" line keeps moving further up the income scale. We have people working two jobs and still below the poverty line.

I was shocked to hear that a family of 5 making $50k a year is considered part of the 47% Romney was talking about. A woman with 3 kids is probably going to find it cheaper to be a stay at home mother while the husband bangs out $50K a year.

and money wins!

Chick-fil-A stopped funding traditional-marriage groups in an effort to open a new Chicago restaurant, but the company initially kept quiet about the decision, prompting gay rights groups to speculate that the company feared a backlash from conservative customers.

The Christian-rooted fast food restaurant agreed to stop funding groups such as Focus on the Family that oppose same-sex marriage in a meeting with the Chicago politician who had been blocking the company’s move there. Chick-fil-A wrote a letter to Alderman Joe Moreno affirming this, according to his spokesman, Matt Bailey, but the company initially wouldn’t allow his office to release the letter to the public. Three weeks later they relented.

It was a dumb move to donate money to them through the company anyway. He can always donate it himself separating his business from controversial political positions.

I guess the question is, what are losers? Is a household making $50,000 a year losing or winning?

"and money wins!"

It certainly has won for Chik-fil-a's founder, the curiously named S. Truett Cathy, who comes in at #89 on the Forbes list with $4.2 billion net worth. He is also tied for 5th on the oldest billionaires list at age 91...

That's an interesting issue. Do you have any recourse if you act in a film and someone comes in afterward and changes everything in it in a way that you never would have signed on for initially? I don't think she has any recourse (because the slippery slope can have anyone disagreeing with the "artistic" changes, post-shooting, of a film and try to have it blocked), but it is an interesting argument to make.

With the polls so tight right now (or in many cases Romney losing) there is no shortage of people coming out of the wood work demanding that Ron Paul supporters vote for Romney.

6 months ago they would have told you Ron Paul people were statistically meaningless to Romney winning the election.

fuck all of them
