Yes, but in an open area, and holding the handle bars are still as possible, you aren't wanting to turn anywhere.
Most of the people are starting slowly and many are in a tight area (like the guy in the stage). I have no idea in large open area and holding the bars steady would work, but I would love to try.
I ride a bike. I can start off on a flat, paved atea without really moving the handle bars much. The question is, would an opposite "micro" movement mess you up and make you fall?
