We all won't be able to sleep until you come to your final conclusion...

If Mission High is as great as the article reports it to be, then there should be no worry of parents being lured by vouchers to send their kids to a more substandard school.

LOL. There you go with the voucher talk again. Why do you have such a hard-on for something that does not move the needle, as it relates to impacting our educational system for the better?

Reid, Pelosi, Boehner and Mitchell worked out a deal behind Obama's back on the debt ceiling.

Interesting read on how Obama had to deal with it.

More interesting to me is what is going to happen in 2013. Apparently whoever gets the presidency is going to have to deal with a bigger issue. Romney might understand this better than anyone and that is why he selected Paul Ryan

Biden gave a speech about 2 football fields away from my house on Sunday. I wasn't at home or I would have gone to see it. Not a big fan but heck, he is the V.P. How often does a V.P. stop at podunk Ohio to give a speech?

That's kinda cool.

On the WP article, I'll read it at lunch. I'm very interested, as the NYT did a huge piece back in January or February detailing everything about the process...and how Boehner was working to get things done with POTUS and Hill Dems, then Ryan and Cantor sunk it (and Simpson Bowles came out at the same time and Obama ran to that prematurely, before he realized it was going nowhere on The Hill).

Boehner's people refused to participate in that Times piece, so I want to see what his take on the story is now, since he apparently did decide to speak to Woodward.

It would've been cool if a secret service agent had been impaled on the stakes of one of your underground tiger/neighborhood kid traps...

Obamacare was Romneycare before it was Obamacare.

true, but the man's platform early on was doing away with Obamacare.

Now he is just going to cherry pick Obamacare and claim he couldn't get rid of it due to legislative procedure.

Like I said earlier, I think Romney likes a lot of what Obama has done, he just can't say it. He makes slips all the time showing his true hand. He did it a couple of times in that Gergen interview.

I believe that what he said that he would preserve preexisting conditions for those that have been paying steadily into the system. That could leave out those that change jobs, kids coming off their parents insurance, transferring jobs etc.

He mentioned preexisting conditions AND allowing kids to stay on parents' insurance "as long as they like" (or something to that effect). That last one was odd because it goes beyond what ACA does. I expect some Romney Campaign Walkbacks to occur today.

It was an interesting read. It went a different direction than the NYT article (which I still recommend people read if they have any interest in the Washington machine playing games with real lives). The NYT article was about all the things leading up to the crisis, while this one takes us from the crisis point forward.

The one thing the article does not do well is capture the winds of the public at this point. Did the Tea Partiers cave because of public perception of their actions? Did they do it because someone from the sane part of the party talked them down? Did they have some economics lesson at the 11th hour that told them where we were headed? Did they do it because they actually had a degree of honest and not symbolic Patriotism? I would love to read something that showed how the world was spinning behind the curtain for Ryan, Bachmann, Cantor or any of those other reps who were standing in the way of the ceiling getting raised.

I think Boehner caved to the Tea Party but in the end he had to eat a shit sandwich because I'm sure word got back to him that Obama was going to veto the bill - which would make Obama look good to the tea partiers.
