does the pod system even care once you're down to a 4 seed? I don't know I'm asking but after 12 teams selected I would think it would very difficult to place teams to avoid specific locations, matchups,, etc. using location as the main driver

That's a good veteran team. Their biggest Achilles heel is their coach.
couple of things - two former NCAA committee chairman trashed Cal and the one and dones. Cal makes a good point - how can those guys go on the record trashing his program and be in a position to unbiasly create and promote the NCAA tournament seedings?
Might have a little bit to do with how UK faces North Carolina and Ohio State last year.
Also, forgot, not only does Western Kentucky have Gilchrist's high school teammate but Miss Valley St is Sean Woods team which is an amazing story. 2 years ago he had to go on out and play a bunch of road games for money just to keep his program solvent. They were going to shut it down and now he is in the NCAA tournament.
I didn't know Sean Woods was coaching. I sat beside him and Jamael Martinez the last time UK played here in Cincinnati. A lot lot of UK players of that era are college coaches now. The only thing I know about Mississsippi Valley is that's where Jerry Rice played.
Whatever happened to Winston Bennett? I remember him coaching at Kentucky State in Frankfort, but then he dropped off the radar.

ecat, there were clearly some biases at work in how the seedings and brackets shook out this year.

The sides of the brackets are named after the location of the regional tournament, which in this case is Atlanta, GA.

Every year same story. A mountain of pissin' and moanin' on these boards, especially the homer boards, about the bracket seeding. Or where the game is played. Everybody wants a cakewalk on their home floor to the final four. Bullshit

shit, I think UNC got a cakewalk this year. there can't be any complaining about that set-up.

I think Kentucky got a great draw - IU in a revenge game away from Ass. Hall - and the only way Duke beats them is if they hit 80% from 3 and live at the FT line.

"How is IU a 4 seed in the South and playing in fucking Portland? Pod system has NEVER made sense to me for shit like this."
Only the elite programs get special treatment in the pod system. Maybe one day your team will be in that class...

The Tar Holes should be sending a Thank You card to the Committee for the cakewalk Region...essentially a Final Four wrapped with a nice pretty bow on it.

well, they'd win anyway but it would have been easier if dook was in the midwest

No kidding. UK fans get to bitch over their first couple of round matchups (like there would be any excuse to lose any of those games), but then got gifted with (potentially) Dook in the regional finals. Goddamn, that would be like getting, say, West Virginia in the regional finals. No way could UK lose a game like that. Right?? YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this will make the 3rd time in 4 tournies that BOTH dook and unc get to play their first two games in their home state.
