I'm looking to see what I'm dealing with in order to try and change the colors of this closer to how it used to be, and I'm looking at the css stylesheets, and so far I've identified 40 different shades of color (text colors, background colors, etc) used in the html of this place. 31 out of 40 are various different shades of gray.

I'm looking to move on from quads to restoring tractors. I'd like to get an old Massey Ferguson 35 Diesel to start off with so I am scrounging around Craiglist and I found this ad. God Bless this guy, he spelled it wrong twice so I assume that's how he says it

Strange you should say this.... that's exactly the tractor I have. '62 Massey 35 with a Perkins 3 cylinder diesel. Bought it about 20 years ago. Traded a '49 Ford 8N and $3000 for it. Great little tractor. If the money's right, I just may sell it to 'ya.

e..... there's a difference between a Massey Ferguson and a Ford Ferguson. That rust bucket looks like a Ford Ferguson. They're similar to the 8N and 9Ns.

They’re similar due to Henry Ferguson and the Ferguson system! That’s a 9N’s sheet metal. That part I can see. That wouldn’t be a stretch to repurpose for a 35 because they’re similar in size, but that’s not a 35’s metal.

My dad was an antique tractor fanatic (particularly Ford and Allis-Chalmers). My family has used Ford (and subsequently New Holland) tractors since the 40’s.

Some of my fondest memories involve restoring a D-17 with my dad. Sadly, I didn’t inherit his mechanical knack. I would kill for another night in the shop with him.

The 35 is a solid little tractor, and parts are easy to find.
Ditto 50’s era Fords.

Until John Deere came into the 20th century and abandoned the horizontal two cylinder for the (what was then) the revolutionary “10” series in 1960, Ford was the dominant tractor company. Ford fucked all of that up with the 6000 and the shit ass transmission in it, and they were looking at John Deere’s ass-end from then forward.

Oh yeah... I’m going to be a dad. It’s not public yet, but it will be this week.

Dad kept books about Ford tractors in both bathrooms. So, between that, my dad, and my uncle who is such a Ford tractor fanatic he has traveled to some obscure Pennsylvania town with a large Ford/New Holland tractor dealership because the owner has a massive and unique Ford tractor collection. Said Uncle has been more than once....

If you get an 8N, don’t be a hard ass and insist on keeping the 6v system. Get the 12v kit and do the right upgrades. Also, don’t get a model that has the coil up front.

Right your are DS.... I didn't convert my 8N to a 12v because it started quickly even in cold weather. The coil (distributor) was up front in the '47 - 49 8Ns. They changed the distributor to the side for the '50 - '52 models. My 8N was a '49. A little difficult to set the points gap when the distributor is up front. Would love to have another 8N. Only problem I had with it was it loved to break the teeth out of second gear if you shifted too quickly. Had to replace it three times. Also, I recommend you go with a Sherman transmission that allows you to use high and low range. First gear in an 8N is a little too fast for cultivating. That's the main reason I upgraded to the Massey 35 with the high/low transmission.

BTW, the 8N was replaced by the Ford NAA (Golden Jubilee). Great little tractor also.

yea I wasn't interested in it just noticing the spelling, I know when Massey broke off, Ford kept the 3 point hitch

congrats on being a Dad. I think I remember saying there was some struggle there on you guys part so I 'm sure the wife is thrilled.

We had an Allis Chalmer G-Model that looked like something straight out of green acres, then moved up to an 8N.

If we had just spent that money on vegetables from the store we would have eaten better

I"m looking to restore, not buy one already in good shape. I think the 35 with a diesel is a great little farm tractor. Hard to find though.
