Allegedly, Romney's taxes are being held for ransom...they have until September 28 to pay $1 million (hi, Dr. Evil) or they will be released to the world.

in one sentence, Bill Clinton shows why the man is such an effective politician

"In Tampa, the Republican argument against the President's re-election was pretty simple: we left him a total mess, he hasn't cleaned it up fast enough, so fire him and put us back in."

That is a message that should strike a chord with undecided voters, and should be a not so subtle reminder for the newly converted Romney voters.

Pushes me close to voting for Gary Johnson...or maybe Chad Johnson, or eating a Johnsonville Bratwurst. Damn, I'm hungry now.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Clinton is a master speaker. He takes meaty policy & breaks it down to digestable levels like few others can.

So far, I have not heard the level of whoppers from the Dems. I have caught a few dubious stats (even from Clinton), but not anywhere near the summit Ryan crested in his speech.

Yep, total clusterfuck. I don't know what value there was in taking it out the platform in the first place. We just went through a whole thing last week with the GOP about how it doesn't matter what's in there.

Looks like more and more are determining what a big waste these conventions are.

As long as candidates come out of conventions with boosts in their poll numbers, the forum will never fully go away. Candidates just don't have the opportunity to speak to 10s of millions of people in one shot like they do at a convention. The next big televised forum that will come up is the presidential debate series. However, as both candidates are there with defined rules and limits on topic and length, it's not the optimal place to lay out policy groundwork.

Because of that, I can't see conventions going away...and I can't even argue they are a big waste.

Now, I can see how some local bodies would not be happy about a convention swooping down into town and causing headaches (financial and logistical), but the parties still continue to benefit from these events...so I don't see them going anywhere, in large part.

I'm sorry, but Clinton is as close to royalty as we've had in America since JFK. That guy is smooth. And unless there is a total global collapse, Obama is going to be just like him for the next 20 years, the venerated elder statesman whose failures have been forgotten with time but whose mere presence somehow evokes nostalgia for the good old days. If Obama can just keep shit together for 4 more years, he will achieve a similar status to Clinton. Even the Fox commentators were goo-goo after Clinton's speech last night...

If we have even a modest upturn over the next 4 years, Obama will get to take credit, and then him and Bill will go full bore behind Hillary's campaign for the presidency in 2016. She's already got the gravitas after a short stint in the senate and now as the secretary of state, it's going to finally be time for a female president and she is definitely the female to be first. I will love that b/c it will absolutely destroy the loudmouth Limbaugh type of repubs like you see at Talent's place (including Wiz, who claims to be independent/libertarian, but they all lie about that (they can't help it)). They will be so miserable and I will be so happy...

Biden went on a little too long, but he gave a decent speech. But Obama is a rock star. There is no way on god's green earth that some mormon drip nerd named Willard beats this guy. It's not even going to be close...

A lot of Bin Laden, and military. Basically calling Romney and Ryan as immature on foreign policy.

People have forgotten his very somber and ominous Inauguration speech. He told us from the beginning that things were fucked up and we were gonna have a very long road ahead. Everyone saw it as not a speech about hope.

What they did not realize is that he was just being honest.

I didn't see it, but he'd be hard pressed to beat Clinton.

Clinton gave hard numbers and what passes as facts these days in rebuttal to Ryan and Romney's speech. It was the RNC's worst case scenario I have to believe.

It was a basic Obama speech, but he's a great speaker. Clinton did knock it out of the park, though...

the GOP is in the worst state it's ever been. shit, even I would take Reagan again over these nimrods. Romney, under his own volition, would probably not be a bad GOP president (relatively) but, like McCain, he sold out months ago to court the Jesus and nukes racist crowd of mo-rons that does the voting. and I don't think he'll be able to control that element if he wins.

And Paul Ryan is nothing but a dickhead.

I'm actually convinced Romney has no problem with 95% of what Obama has done in office. He just can't say it.

I also think he only wants to be president for religious and selfish reasons. His moral core seems to be centered on ambition and nothing much beyond that. That's what makes him so quick to change positions. Also, I should research this before I post it because my memory is fuzzy on it, but I think there is some LDS prophecy about a Mormon leading a ruined America back to its promised place at the head of the world. I believe Mitt has a little of that swirling in his head, too.

The past couple weeks I have been working on getting my education level up on the schools issue we have in this country. I watched the excellent "Waiting for Superman" and have spent some time on other articles web programs laying out some issues. I'm still working my way through all the information and formulating my personal take on everything I'm digesting, but this article is a solid accompaniment (sp?) to the "Superman" movie...
