OK, I got the database update to go through and we are now running the most up to date PHPBB board software, so this should fix most of the issues that were still happening. We should no longer be getting the gunk from PHP errors at the top of pages that are trying to display posts with [forum code], and all posts going back in time should now be restored to what the should look like (ie quotes should now show up, etc). Any posts with like the youtube tags, or img2 tags will still not display correctly, but will just show the text until I can recreate those custom tags for us again (hopefully the new software already has its own way of handling youtube and such, I'll have to check).
So I'm gonna see if I can find a board style that more closely approximates the one we were using before. So we'll see how this goes for a week or two before I start seeing if i can get the board back to what it used to look like, or what we'll need to do. Please let me know if you find something that doesnt look right so I'm aware and can try and figure it out.

I have updated the style to the closest compatible new style that works with the new board version. Its created by the same person who made the one that used as the base for what we were using prior to the crash, so it should be fairly similar.

since you are knee deep into this, can you create an image 3 that makes any image like 640X480?

Shouldnt be an issue to create a tag that does that, although I'd just use width=640px, because I'm pretty sure doing width and height will compress or stretch an image that doesnt fit the perfect aspect ratio.

It looks like with the new software we actually no longer will have the issue with pictures running off the page, so the old img 2 tag is not needed anymore. One problem with the img3 tag, is that although it did cut down the size of the image above, it actually extends the image beyond the usable screen and creates a scroll bar when viewed on a small format screen (like my phone) or if the width of the browser window is shrunk down to less than the width of the pic.

I have activated a customization that should just let you copy the link rather than use bb code for various media.

Interesting, after I created the "img2" tag again, it appears that some PHP errors have started appearing again at the top of pages with old posts using the img2 tag. I'm guessing that it stores some code in the post database that no longer works, Im trying to find a way to maybe have all of the posts reparsed (which without access to run shell commands might not be possible) so that they would be re-updated with new code. The best option might end up being to delete the img2 tag for good so that those old posts will just be text and will not produce the errors.

The img2 tag is definitely what is causing it. i just edited an AugustWest post that used the img2 tag on the first page of this thread and resubmitted the same post and the PHP errors went away and the post corrected itself

I have deactivated img2, which is no longer needed and is causing errors in old posts using it.
I have also deactivated tweet and youtube since they are no longer needed due to the new media extensions. Old posts using these tags werent displaying correctly anyway.
A new img3 tag which makes the width of an image be exactly 640 px wide is active

Can you create an Img4 for AA, one that requires a powerful magnifying glass to see the picture?
