you just finished trying that. how'd it work out for you? and keep in mind that you have ncaa, conference, and press protection that SMU never dreamed of. if you ever hire an honest straight forward good, follow the rules coach you'd do very well. but that is not in UNC's nature. you'll either hire hire a flashy coach that uses you as a stepping stone ala Mack, a cheating shyster ala Butch or a UNC lapdog ala BTB.

I'll be the first to admit I'm biased but look at their coaching history. from the 'late '70's they've had Vince Dooley (cheater) that left them for Va Tech, Dick Crum who they ran off for being too honest, Mack brown who left them for Texas, Carl Torbush (ran off because he was too honest), Bunting (UNc flunkey), Butch(cheater) and now Withers UNc flunkey who they'll run off for the double crime of being too black and too not Butch Davis(cheater).

I think that was Vince Dooley's brother, Bill.

So we are playing UVA in the Chik-Fil-A.

Now a bad bowl for a team with modest accomplishments. (In the preseason I thought we'd be lucky to snag the WeedEater Bowl.)

And we aren't playing Clemson again. I think we have a better chance against the Cavaliers anyway.

In the preseason, I thought Bama would be lucky getting to the Birmingham game. AA, the eternal optimist, convinced me we'd have a better season and possibly reach Nashville.

With a few luck bounces, we were able to exceed expectations.

Roof is gone to UCF. He did to our defense what Ron Franklin did for our offense a few years ago.

Now I hope we can get somebody good.

That reminds me of when we hired as our new OC Franklin just before a bowl game. He installed the dreaded "Spread Eagle" offense in less than a month and ran it in the CFA Bowl, with then-5 star freshman Kodi Burns at QB. It was the pinnacle of Franklin's and Burns' careers at AU.

How quickly you turn on your 5 star freshman QBs. Last time I saw something this bad was the Lil Boo debacle.

Kodi Burns went on to be a starter on our National Championship team as a wide receiver. For his courage and loyalty, he is as beloved by Auburn folk as much as Cam and Nick.

Who is "Lil Boo"?

I think it was Brent Schaeffer, a Tennessee QB from 6-7 years ago or thereabouts...transferred to Ole Miss.
