The Gamecocks looked like the Chickenhawks against aTm. I would hold off on getting too excited if the Dawgs beat them, which I think they will do, like a rented mule. Besides, the annual Richt swoon usually comes later in the season, as if calculated to maximize the disappointment.

I do think UGA is the best team in East.

Nobody is afraid of Georgia.

Most teams should be afraid of Georgia, at least a little bit. They've got one of the best RB's in the country and apparently a very good defense. The only 2 teams on their schedule with a real chance at beating them are Florida and Auburn. The Dawgs will probably make it to the SECCG game before they lose to the West.

Great game. In this case, it was a game of millimeters. But you just knew that, the closer the game, the more likely Georgia would lose.

Gurley is still a beast. Pruitt's defense... not so much.

Great game to watch, except for the realization that UF isn't going to have a chance against either of these teams.

Pruitt's defense is fine. But he was driving a Lexus in Tallahassee and inherited a Hyundai in Athens. It'll take a year or two because he's a phenomenal recruiter and will get the pieces he needs in short time.

Mark Richt drives his Ferrari into a ditch yet again. 1 and goal at the 5 with 4 mins to go and down by three and you run play action? Fools. Gurley would have powered into the end zone and we'd be talking about how far this team can go after escaping a motivated and desperate Gamecock squad. Instead, its Charlie Brown all over again.

Congrats to the Gamecocks.

Heartbreaking. I generally like Georgia fans. Was pulling for you. Redeem your season by beating Florida and Auburn, and all is right in the world.

The older generation Gator Alum (i.e., me) feel that UGA is our only rival and enjoy their misery. Another Richt season. Gators win (amazingly). All is right in the world already.

Georgia recruits as well as anyone in the SEC. There is at least as much raw defensive talent in Athens as in Tally. Pruitt just needs to make good use of the plethora of 4 and 5 star players he already has. That's true of UGA in general.

The worst thing is we will go on a run and get back in it just in time to get fooled again…

I still think you'll beat Florida. I give you a 50/50 chance of beating Auburn. We've had a hard time beating UGA recently. It used to be the other way around.

LOL - no. Pruitt's defense starts with the DBs. FSU's DBs last year were head and shoulders ahead of UGA's DBs this year, especially with the UGA dismissals in the offseason (Tray Matthews [S], Josh Harvey-Clemons [S], Shaq Wiggins [CB]). Last year, FSU's DBs consisted of Lamarcus Joyner (5*, 2nd rd NFL-Rams), Terrence Brooks (3*, 3rd rd NFL-Ravens) as well as the players listed below.

UGA will be fine, but they've lost a ton of talent to attrition this year.

FSU Starters (2014)
5* = 3
4* = 6
3* = 2

FSU 2nd String
5* = 0
4* = 7
3* = 4

UGA Starters
5* = 0
4* = 8
3* = 1
2* = 2

UGA 2nd String
5* = 2
4* = 4
3* = 3
2* = 2

(I labeled the walkons for UGA as 2*, and I suspect the one listed as a starter on the Rivals site is ceremonial and he doesn't actually start).

There is no question he has a lot of work to do in the secondary. Grantham recruited the front seven well and we had poor character guys in the back end. The punks are all gone now, but now we are only left with backups and freshmen. BUT, we knew that going into the season. We also knew that Spurrier had to win this game to save the Gamecocks' season. Yet, as always, we lost because we missed critical field goals, were on the wrong of end of several critically bad calls, and our play calling after manufacturing turnovers was terrible. In other words, a typical Georgia season has begun in earnest... 9-3 and Outback Bowl Bound!

I'm sick and tired of UGA fans bad-mouthing Mark Richt. He's doing a heckuva job. He should stay in Athens for at least 10 more years.

If he somehow wins a title with this group of studs, then he is welcome to stay until he retires. If he continues to lose two games when it matters, he has to go.

Before you talk of getting rid of Richt, you have to decide who you'd get that would do better.

O ye ungrateful fan. Coach Richt has a 127-46 record at Georgia. In his 14 seasons, that averages out to a .734 winning percentage or an average 9 win season. Most programs would kill for a record like that. And that includes last year's 8-5 season, where all his best players were injured. Certainly not his fault.

How can you consider replacing the man who won you 2 SEC Championships?

Listen to Tick. Consider what happened to Tennessee when they fired Fat Phil. They went into a wilderness that they are just now returning from - maybe.

Keep Coach Richt. He will keep the Dawgs on the path to greatness.
