So, didn't two people die? That means the police killed him and an innocent bystander? Dear lord....

We should really talk about changing the laws that allow cops to carry guns.

He didn't get a shot off at the cops. They were following him after he shot the ex co-worker.

Yep @ Rat.

I don't think the NYPD has a policy against shooting armed perps on busy streets, even if the perp does not fire a shot. However, all it takes is one cop to squeeze off one round, then all the cops will begin to fire. They tend to think they fire three or four shots, but wind up firing twice that amount. That's why there were 16 shots fired and, most likely, all by the police. I don't know if you can keep shit like this from happening. I would think some high functioning officers would work out a way to isolate the perp before the confrontation, but most cops are not high functioning (most people aren't).

Who the hell was the cop that missed all those shots? Lt. Frank Drebin?

to be fair, 6 of the people were hit with shrapnel from bullets, not direct hits, but 3 people ...damn

You could give a gun to a monkey and he could do that.

Hey Rat, Did you see that Warren Co prosecuter Rachel Hutzel died. If you go piss on her grave I'm sure you won't be the only one.

Only the cops should be allowed to have cars. I don't see anywhere in the Constitution where it states citizens are entitled to own cars...

Amusing piece by David Brooks. The Real Mitt Romney:

" The Romneys had a special family tradition. The most cherished member got to spend road trips on the roof of the car. Mitt spent many happy hours up there, applying face lotion to combat windburn.

The teenage years were more turbulent. He was sent to a private school, where he was saddened to find there are people in America who summer where they winter. He developed a lifelong concern for the second homeless, and organized bake sales with proceeds going to the moderately rich.

Some people say he retreated into himself during these years. He had a pet rock, which ran away from home because it was starved of affection. He bought a mood ring, but it remained permanently transparent. His ability to turn wine into water detracted from his popularity at parties. "

Romney's sense of humor is awesome...hair cutting of gay kids, birther quips on the campaign stump, spot-on impersonations of Ben Stein...these debates will be a rip-roaring affair, pitting two masters of comedic timing against each other. I expect at least a dozen new "well, there you go again" moments this Fall.

Do they hold the Alfred Smith dinner every election? The last one with Obama and McCain was hilarious. Not sure how Romney will make out, but I never pegged McCain as a comedian, either, and he killed. So did Obama...
