Their TV markets alone will put them ahead of those two but I get the point. They have to move now though. If you think about it the UC & Louisville TV markets might both be top 5 in the Big 12.

Jesus. At this point, I am hoping that Swofford retires tonight and capable leadership is hired immediately. Otherwise, the ACC is fucked.

over Maryland leaving? The only one fucked is the Big East, except for basketball. Swofford is doing a pretty good job through all this consoliation mess considering he's got a league full of shitty football programs.

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing.

2,343,000 have dropped Willis McGahee

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee has a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will miss six to eight weeks.

McGahee also has a fracture in the bone in his lower right leg. He will be on crutches for about a month, and doctors have told him not to put any weight on his leg, according to a source. McGahee will not need surgery and he believes he can come back in four to six weeks, even though the team thinks it's a six- to eight-week injury.

That Torrey Smith trade looks pretty good now doesn't it!

that's because since VT and Miami came in only basketball schools have been (ahem)courted...

note - lack of reference to BC is deliberate

Why would the Big Ten take Duke? They don't compare at all in Football revenue

The B1G wants UNC...not Duke.

They have to take either Duke or UVa to get U*NC.

They won't take Duke. They would take UVA. Of course they want ND far worse but that ain't happening.

The Big Ten will now be known as the Big 10-4 good buddy conference.

Please make a note of it.

I could see a UNC and UVa combo in the Big 10. They could go to four, four-team pods with UVa, UNC, Maryland and Rutgers making up the East Coast pod.

I much prefer the Big 10 to the SEC. The Big 10 is a better cultural fit for Carolina. The academic types would bitch about big money sports, but the Big 10 does a lot of innovative things with academics. The university could placate the academic types with the research dollars from the Big 10 initiative and sell the fact that the Big 10 has a stellar academic background, unlike the SEC.

Either way, we will be even more fucked in football, but the Big 10 is a better fit overall, imho.

Also, the same thing can be said for UVa, but they're even bigger pretentious pricks than we are.

I wonder how long a bunch of schools in the midwest will continue to be academic powerhouses. Adding UVA, UNC, Maryland, Rutgers would probably help the Big Ten as far as the next 100 years go more than the rest of the Big Ten add to those 4 schools.

I don't know if the state of Virginia would let Virginia go without Va. Tech
